Can your PC handle Battlefield Hardline? You have the right to remain silent if you do not wish to answer that question. Back when Battlefield Hardline was announced last year, developer Visceral explained that the game would have PC specs that were more or less in line with the previous Battlefield release. And those specs most certainly are. But there’s just one catch here: You’re going to need to be running a 64 bit version of your favourite Windows operating system before you can jump on into the game.
According to Origin, here’s what you’ll need at the very least to play the final version of the game when it releases:
Minimum:
- OS: Windows Vista SP2 64-bit (with KB971512 Update)
- CPU: Athlon II/Phenom II 2.8 GHz, Intel Core i3/i5 2.4GHz
- Memory: 4 GB RAM
- GPU: ATI Radeon HD 5770 (1 GB), NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 (896 MB)
- HDD: 60 GB
- Direct X 11
And if the specs above are worthy of a scoff (to the max), here are the recommended settings:
Recommended:
- OS: Windows 8 64-bit (with KB971512 Update)
- CPU: INTEL QUAD-CORE CPU, AMD SIX-CORE CPU
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- GPU: AMD Radeon R9 290, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760
- GPU memory: 3 GB
- HDD: 60 GB
- DirectX 11
If you’re playing on console, you’ll need the following:
Recommended:
- Really thick skin, because PC gamers are a bunch of meanies. Remember, sticks and stones may break your bones, but words…will hurt even more
And of course, the game is going to look even spiffier than usual, according to EA. Here’s a fresh reel of hyperbole:
Not too bad then. So you reckon your PC is capable of running the game? Go on, gloat. That’s what these pages are meant for. You have our permission to do so.

Minimum is very forgiving. Even recommended isn’t that bad.

What about a 3.5Gb card?

At least it outperforms a 4GB card, for less. 😛

bam. it outperforms a 2GB but is lower than 4gb 🙁
my budget prevents me to get GTX 980 due to $AUD1500

(preferably $AUD1450 etc but NOT SKIMPING on QUALITY.)

Seeing what a failure BF4 was and how long it took to fix it most thought that the Beta launched instead of the completed game.

3gb gpu recommended!? Are they insane! LOL! Now I know for sure they are just making up recommended specs to get people to buy new hardware. My 1gb card could run bf4, my 2gb card runs bf4 on max at 60+ fps. Now they saying I need an upgraded card for recommended? Not everyone runs games at 4k.

I think it’s more a case of the resolutions people (not many saffas) are pushing. 1440 seems to be pretty much the standard overseas (at least in my limited experience of OCN.net). When you start pushing higher res’s then I can understand the need for more than 2gb. I think it’s a sign of the time.
something wrong

Minimum 5770 = Xbox One.
Recommended 760 and r9 290 = something wrong.

So, Nvidia gameworks anyone?
Since when does a 760 compare to a R9 290?
Gameworks is bad
February 3, 2015 at 09:05
Battlefield 4 partnered up with AMD and used Mantle. I don’t think Hardline is using Gameworks. The problem could be the performance between AMD CPU + 290 vs AMD CPU + 760. There might be an issue with that FX chip and the 290.

Not really amped for this game… Both the battlefield and COD franchises have gotten stale to me. Need someone else to make a New franchise to shake things up!

Try the beta. I’m not getting it on release, but it does feel different to the last two battlefields. It won’t be for everyone, but it’s at least something a little different.

second hand or steam sale?
Matthew Holliday
February 3, 2015 at 09:33
they dont exist.
probably going to ignore it untill its down 50%, which only took a few months for BF4.
BF Premium is another issue.
R600 for half a game.
probably another R650 for the other half.

You buy a broken game and then pay to fix it. Nice.

a gtx 260? Is that right? That’s far below the current standard of 560 or 660 minimum specs?
