A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away…

Tim Longo from Tomb Raider’s Crystal Dynamics who worked as the project director on Star Wars: Republic Commando has returned to LucasArts. A move which has sparked much conjecture as to whether a sequel to the squad orientated shooter is in the cards.

While most of this news is simply speculation, LucasArts have recently secured a license deal with Epic for use of their Unreal Engine 3, “Unreal Engine 3 is a forward-looking solution that shortens the path between inspiration and execution on a wide variety of gaming platforms,” explained LucasArt’s director of tech, Zach Phelps.

Whether or not these two factors are purely coincidental is not yet certain, but a possible sequel to the fan favorite, utilizing Unreal Engine 3 capabilities will surely get the fans talking. Personally, I would love to see this happen…
