I’m not a massive fan of the current crop of animated Marvel shows (barring Ultimate Spider-Man, the majority of them are quite kak), but I have to give Disney credit for making a massive new and cohesive animated universe. With talent shared across various series, we’ve seen a whole new world grow. And it’s time for the Guardians Of The Galaxy to cash in on that direction.
No stranger to the animated Marvel shows, the Guardians have popped up in the Avengers Assemble and Ultimate Spider-Man series already, with the GOTG show apparently having been in the works for quite a while now. Over at SDCC on the weekend, the Marvel Animation panel screened some footage of the show, which Geek Magazine has a description of:
The 60-second clip opens to a futuristic city scape, with Rocket Raccoon evading a laser shooting probe. Rocket jumps off a tall structure, rolling on his back as he blasts the probe. An unseen voice says “Hey, fuzzy,” and is revealed to be Star-Lord. ”if we’re going to be hanging out together you’re going to need bigger blasters.” The scene fades to the Guardians of the Galaxy logo.
The Guardians Of The Galaxy is out this weekend, and it’ll most likely end up making the characters of Star-Lord,Drax,Gamora,Rocket Raccoon and Groot household names. Couple that with an established cartoon universe, guest stars from other Marvel characters and you’ve got a project that is going to most likely resonate well with kiddies.
