Got nothing to do all week and you don’t feel like watching The International? Worry not, there is something else that will provide you with hour upon hour of viewing pleasure – assuming you enjoy the art of speedrunning of course! The 2015 Summer Games Done Quick Marathon kicked off yesterday, and it will be running throughout the week, 24 hours each day, right up till the wee hours of Sunday morning.
Gamers will be performing speedruns across a TON of games, all in the name of raising money for charity. Their organisation of choice this time around is Doctors Without Borders.
The schedule is jam packed! Here’s a sneak peek of what’s happening tomorrow for example:
And that’s just the first 12 hours! As you can see, there is a nice mix on offer. Personally, I’d love to see how Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is finished in just over two hours – how the hell is that even possible? How does the runner account for level difference, for example, and the randomness of gun drops? There must be a trick I’m missing.
All proceeds from the Twitch subscriptions ($4.99 a pop) will go to Doctors Without Borders. Alternately, there are bidding challenges/choices which can be used to contribute to the charity. There are also prizes up for grabs, including a PlayStation 4, Alienware gaming PC, and a Majora’s Mask New 3DS XL. All of that information can be found right here.
Here’s the video embed if you’re keen to follow the stream yourself (via Dailydot):

Are there any games you’d love to see speedrun? Sadly, I missed the Resident Evil 3 one – I used to speedrun that when I was teeny tiny lad, so would’ve loved to have seen how the professionals went about doing it.

Never seen a Digimon run so looking forward to that. Also enjoy the mega man runs.
