While the verdict is still out on whether or not Ashton Kutcher has the acting chops to play Apple leading man, Steve Jobs, in this biopic, there’s no denying that he certainly looks the part.
Thanks to TMZ we get this look at the That 70’s Show star “in full costume” on the set of the biopic, Jobs:Get Inspired, which is still a title so horrible that it inspires me to stomach cramps.
Here’s what producer Mark Hulme previously told Collider about why they chose Kutcher for the role:
“Since our film covers the early years of Apple, when Jobs was in his 20′s, we needed an actor who could carry not only the youthfulness of Jobs at the time but also the psychological complexity. Because of that, and Ashton’s physical similarities to Jobs, he’s perfect for our film… When Ashton read the script he was immediately attracted to the project. He is a Steve Jobs and Apple fan, and is technologically savvy, as well, so he recognized the historical importance of Steve Jobs and the potential of the project. He is very excited to have the role.”
Now while I do know that Kutcher is pretty tech savvy (I’ve seen him all up in the Twitterz!), I’m not too sure about that whole “psychological complexity” bit. The closest he’s come to anything bearing that description was in the Butterfly Effect and even there I was not wholly convinced.
At least he sleep safe in the knowledge though that he can never turn in a performance quite as bad as that title though.
