A Supergirl, Arrow, Flash and Legends of Tomorrow mega-crossover is coming

Supergirl Flash (2)

Marvel may be crushing cinemas right now with comic book movies that are firing on all cylinders, but their Distinguished Competition has always had an edge when it comes to television. Specifically the CW, which has managed to carve a small empire on TV with superheroic action that features way too many scenes of heroes needing to learn a lesson while the sad piano music plays in the background.

The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Green Arrow have been big hits for that network, cheesy yet somehow stupidly good fun that has found an audience and created crossover events which have now become an annual tradition. And those crossovers are going to get a little bit bigger, as the recent acquisition of the last lady of Krypton is resulting in a mega-event that will most likely have an 80% chance of punching involved.

Yup, with Supergirl moving from the CBS network to the CW, that gives the channel a new star for their shared universe. Speaking at a CW presentation via EW, CW chief Mark Pedowitz discussed the addition of Supergirl to their line-up and plans for Christmas featuring their four big properties:

Just imagine what our superhero crossover episode is going to look like come December.

Damn son, that’s going to be huge. Here’s the thing: While Supergirl follows a predictable pattern much like Arrow, Flash and Legends of Tomorrow does, it’s also an example of perfect casting. In a world where DC’s big onscreen heroes are these flawed gods who hardly ever crack a smile on their grumpy faces, seeing Melissa Benoit’s Supergirl on the small screen is a constant delight. In many, many ways, she’s a better Superman than the Man of Steel himself.

And I can’t wait to see that optimism fly into Star City, where all those heroes and villains will have to face their greatest enemy yet: A severely stretched special effects budget. RUN BERRY RUN!

That show makes me sad. When it’s good it’s really good… but most of the time it’s not good.

Agreed. Some of the episodes are like, hell yeah! Then it’s another of ‘I love you but I am destined to be with him’ bollocks!

They’ve spent so much time setting her up as the focus of the show, and not only in LoT but in Arrow & The Flash as well, and when her character’s not annoying she’s just meh. Needs to hawk out more, be interesting ffs.

Agreed. One thing I noticed that almost put me off Flash, was that fucking accent the evil characters use. The one the Lenard Snart uses was identical to the one the ice chick used. So annoying.

I know hey? As @t@disqus_DoEH3TsffU:disqus says there are some good eps (like when their ship is under siege) but man oh MAN can it be painful! They should rename it ‘Legends of School’ with the number of fucking lessons each character learns each week!

The worst thing is I actually like Vandal Savage. He’s a sneering villain-y villain who doesn’t give a fuck. He’s awesome. Yet he’s only been in what, 1/4 of the episodes?

          • Admiral Chief Protector

            May 20, 2016 at 14:27

Agreed, creepy at first, but now, I prefer him (that also goes to show you how bland the other characters are)

And wtf is up with the gay guy playing a straight guy kissing a straight girl playing a gay woman?

So weird, it really is like they have NO idea about writing a story

He’s straight, she’s bi. She was bonking Ollie before Not-Talia. Not confusing. ;P

Vandal Savage would have been awesome as the protagonist, with the whole show revolving on how he manages to outsmart a band of time travelling noobs.

Supergirl is my favourite TV superhero because she’s got an emotional range that goes beyond sullen, sulky or pouty.

The last few episodes of Season 4 Arrow got quite irritating. Especially the latest episode. Its like a whole jumbled mess. I been a fan of The Arrow, Supergirl even (Started out irritating, but turned out to be rather cool to watch), but The Flash takes the win right now. I think Zoom is simply one awesome enemy.

The show needs a cull. It’s a mess right about now, and I think their writers are on crack or no longer trying.

They need to kill off Felicity. Yeah I know the internet/twitter feminists love her (I actually love the actress), but she’s been a drag on the show ever since they (Oliver and Felicity) started to knock their boots. If I wanted to watch Felicity and friends I would do so, instead I want to watch Arrow.

    My two cents:

    a) Flash is awesome!
    b) Supergirl was irritating, but I have to admit it’s actually gotten better (especially when they introduced the Martian Manhunter)
    c) Arrow is disappointing. It went from an awesome show to Smallville levels of tripe.
    d) Legends of Tomorrow is a mixed bag. They’ve had some pretty awesome episodes, but it feels like they’ve run out of steam. A pity really because Brendan Routh as the Atom is awesome.
