“The Hulk Hulks out” in Thor: Ragnarok

Hulk (2)

Marvel may be onto something with the casting for the third Thor movie, Raganarock. Chris Hemsworth is back, joined by Idris Elba, Idris Elba’s silly helmet, Anthony Hopkins, Tessa Thompson, Cate Blanchett, Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban and of course the incredible Hulk himself Mark Ruffalo. The more I hear about Thor: Ragnarok, the more I imagine it to be the ultimate buddy-cop movie featuring the mighty Asgardian and the green rage monster teaming up to fight the forces of Hel (yes, one L) itself.

And Ruffalo feels the same way really about this “intergalactic buddy road movie with Banner and Thor”.

Speaking to ET at the premiere for Now You See Me 2, Ruffalo coyly suggested that we’ll be seeing an even more smash-tastic Hulk:

I think it will be smashing. You’ll see a lot more Hulk and I think it’ll–

Now You See Me 2 co-star Woody Harrelson interrupted Ruffalo at this point to ask if the Hulk would be even hulkier this time around:

Hulk (1)

The Hulk gets Hulk-ier. The Hulk Hulks out. Hulk-ier and bigger.

Naturally, this all comes down to just how much of Ruffalo we see on the big screen as Bruce Banner compared to the other guy that he keeps bottled up inside of him. And while the Hulk is more beast than human who indiscriminately destroys whatever his jade eyes are looking at, Cate Blanchett’s villain in Thor: Ragnarok is much, much worse, as Ruffalo explained:

She plays the worst of the worst. So evil. She is going to kill us. It’s such a great part she gets to play.

So like Lady Galadriel from Lord of the Rings then, except the exact opposite. I always adored the little interactions with the Hulk and Thor in the Avenger movies. Here’s hoping that by the time this threequel rolls around, the Thunder God is alert enough to block a sucker-punch from the unjolly green giant. Also, it’s going to massively awkward when Loki meets the Hulk again.

Thor: Ragnarok is out on November 3 2017.
