Centuries from now, archaeologists will unearth a treasure trove of SpongeBob Squarepants paraphernalia, examine it and wonder just what the hell our species was smoking at the time. Sure, it may be a beloved stoners delight and children’s cartoon, but there’s no denying that Bikini Bottom’s resident optimist has been a massive driving force in meme culture.
Imagine how much poorer life would have been without a Surprised Patrick meme being thrown at you:

Or just how dull your online conversations would have been without Caveman SpongeBob grunting his way into a debate:

aNd dOn’t fOrGeT MoCkInG SpOnGeBoB, tHe bEsT MeMe oF AlL TiMe!

Nickelodeon may be a few years late to the party, but dammit I can’t be mad because the animation studio has finally allowed for some of the more memetastic moments from the series history to be reproduced in three-dimensional plastic as collectible figures. I must have them all:

Over on Amazon, these figures will run you a bill of $22 a pop for inaction figures that measure in at around eight inches of outdated internet comedy culture. There’s six in total, and yes Mocking SpongeBob has already sold out. Dammit. Still, I’m happy to throw down some cash for the silver medallist figure, which is easily Surprised Patrick. You might be saying “Darryn, that’s a complete waste of money why would you buy this?” to which I would offer the following rebuttal. Ahem…
