Future Trunks (2)

Dragon Ball sagas are pretty much easy to summarise: Threat appears, kicks ass and everyone trains up to vanquish. Easy. Thing is, that setup is still superb for telling different kids of stories with the exact same payoff. And out of all of them, I always loved the Future Trunks storyline. Like the first two Linkin Park albums, it was dark and experimental stuff.

The son of Vegeta, travelling back in time to stop a threat that had pretty much annihilated his timeline and killed off the greatest warriors that the world had ever seen. Absolutely fantastic stuff, with a prequel that would break your heart and an ending that came full circle for the time traveller. Outside of that saga, Future Trunks has rarely been seen, but he’ll be making a comeback in June this year.

That’s according to the official Dragon Ball Twitter page and Toei Animation, which revealed that a new Future Trunks saga would kick off on June 12 in the Dragon Ball Super series. The enemy this time? Goku himself, or an entity referred to as “Goku Black”. Here’s a sneak peek at the returning warrior:

Future Trunks (1)

“After a long time of adult trunks appeared! This is what you have built a story inspired from the draft that we received from the editorial department,” Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama said on the Toei Animation website, which my Google Translate has hilariously deciphered. So apologies for that.

Like last time, I wrote the entire synopsis is, or collectively me to the contents of each one episode more of it the playwright, or me inflated, change or, to be more interesting and or me afterthought to have got to do my best. From that strong trunks the future, will also come for his life. Whether there was anything on earth, but it should becomRemove featured imagee in peace! ? And in a formidable enemy Goku black of unprecedented I enemy even trunks! ? (By name, somehow I would be imagined).

God of Destruction and Sakaio God, even winding up Zen’o, begins fight that goes beyond time and space! In addition a variety of mystery, even apparently! There may also be confusing parts or changed here and there era, but I have to put up a little bit. It should be surely fun story! I also complete screenplay does not confirm. Together, let’s pounding (laughs)! !

Interesting design choices here: Trunks still has his trademark sword, his Capsule Corporation jacket is more ragged and his hair colour has gone from pink to blue.. Whatever the case, I’m looking forward to seeing him back in action. Eventually. I’m still waiting for the English dub to begin with Dragon Ball Super, as I’m not sitting through 40-odd original Japanese audio episodes and abusing my eardrums with what usually sounds like screaming goats that have been huffing helium.
