25 years ago, cinema audiences learnt that nothing on earth is more tenacious than a rubber doll with the soul of a serial killer stuck inside of it. A series of films followed, with Chucky getting more mutilated and more determined in every single one, ending with an unholy abomination of a film that was collectively known as “The Seed of chucky”, back in 2004.
All rubber indeed. With the movie industry recycling horror icons faster than a greenpeace rally at a landfill, it looks like the demented doll might just be headed back to the big screen.Speaking at the North Carolina Mad Monster Party Convention, the voice of Chucky himself, Brad Dourif, revealed that there were in fact two killer doll films currently in development, that he’s involved in.
Whether these are direct sequels or reboots are unknown, but it is confirmed that long-time Childs Play collaborators Don Mancini and David Kirschner are guiding the inaction figure through his current development hell, and want to make him far scarier than he turned out to be.
Mancini himself plans to write and direct the latest films.
