Words alone cannot express how much I hate Writer-directors Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer. If you haven’t heard of them, here’s a rundown of some of their “hit” movies:
Epic Movie, Date Movie, Meet The Spartans, Disaster Movie and Vampires Suck. Notice a pattern there? Yes, those are the films which have destroyed the once respectable parody genre, as well as having been responsible for an increase in bucket sales, due to all the vomiting that occurs when watching one of their films.
And they’re back, with yet another predictably horrible spoof on the way, primarily of the Hunger Games.
The plan is to currently use the Hunger Games model as way to spoof the Avengers, Sherlock Holmes and Harry Potter, as well as several other flavour of the week films.
So prepare yourselves, for unfunny comedy, worn-out cliches and memes, as well as a film with the budget of a high school one-act play. Seltzer and Friedberg are currently busy with their next abomination, The biggest movie of all time 3D, which they say is “the first parody film to be shot in 3D.”
I’m notorious in the office for having a soft spot for bad films, but even the disasterpiece duo of Friedberg and Seltzer can stretch my tolerance for such films.
Plus, I’m pretty certain that Kervyn is going to Hulk out when he hears that not one, but that two of his favourite films are about to be parodied by them. Which means that I need to run for my life right now.
