Now I don’t mean to brag, but back in my younger, library prefect days, we threw some mean parties. This one time, we turned the volume on the hi-fi up to like 7 and we didn’t even care. Hell, once, we let the party rage to like 23:05, and somebody even played a rap song.
Now that’s a party, not like these silly shindigs the kids are throwing today, filled with booze, boobs, people shooting themselves in the head and time travel clones. What’s that all about?
In this supernatural thriller, three college friends go to the biggest party of the year, each looking for something different: love, sex and a simple human connection. When a mysterious phenomenon disrupts the party, it lights a fuse on what will become the strangest night anyone has ever seen. As the three friends struggle to find what they’re looking for, the party quickly descends into a chaos that challenges if they can stay friends or if they can even stay alive.
Having recently seen and really enjoyed Rhys Wakefield’s – the blonde kid in the beginning – turn as a well mannered psychopath in another high concept thriller, The Purge (review up next week), I’m quite interested to see what he does here as well. The premise of Project X meets Invasion of the Body Snatchers is quite an intriguing one, so hopefully the payoff lives up to the premise.
+1 opens internationally this weekend, but there’s no local release date set yet.
