ENTOURAGE is headed to the big screen

Confession: I have never seen a single episode of Entourage before. Also, I have yet to watch The Wire or Breaking Bad, but I’ve avoided those two shows mostly so that I can piss people off and see who has the most incredulous-looking face when I mention that fact.

Still, I need to watch Entourage some time, and not just because Kervyn told me that Anna Faris is in a couple of episodes. Chronicling the trials and tribulations of an upcoming Hollywood actor, Entourage ran for eight seasons and 96 episodes before it left TV screens. And now, it’s coming full circle as a feature film, which has finally been given the green-light to be made.

Last year September saw the script for the proposed film finally completed, with Warner Bros then proceeding to OK the project. According to Deadline, the film will pick up six months after whatever happened at the end of the series, which involved Jeremy Piven’s character of Ari Gold realizing his dream or something. Again, I need to find time to watch this show.

The creator of the series, Doug Ellin, will be pulling directing duties for the big screen adaptation which is expected to see the return of the majority of the TV cast for it. So what else will the film be about? Most likely, friendship, according to Ellin when he spoke about the project last year;

There are interesting developments about Ari as a studio head, and that’s still the first page for me. But foremost is the friendship between the guys who are still hanging out and going to fun parties, and it continues with the same characters.

Sounds interesting. No word yet on when filming kicks off, but with a green light buzzing and a script in place, it should be soon.
