Warcraft is, quite frankly, a legendary series of games with a rather distinct sense of style. Unlike when we laugh at Nick for his style however, Warcraft’s haute couture is all massive muscles, swords and magic that can crack a continent. Translating that that signature look was always going to be a challenge, especially for a film that has managed to keep a lid tight enough to make various other big budget Hollywood films jealous.
But I think they’ve nailed it:
Underneath all that Orcish skin, wisdom teeth and Man Of Steel-level muscles is actor Rob Kazinsky as Orc chieftain Ogrim Doomhammer. Thanks to Industrial light and Magic, Ogrim looks pretty much spot-on, just as fans imagined him to be. “We were looking for someone who would be able to perform the gruffness, the humor, and the toughness of this character,” director Duncan Jones said to Wired.
We’ve gone beyond the point where these are just creatures in movies. We now have the technology and the ability to make new characters entirely.
All of a sudden, Warcraft is looking like one hell of a dedicated movie ahead of its June 2016 release.
