Normally, Hugh Jackman can be found in movies that require to run around with hand-stabbers, but the man has range dammit! While the upcoming The Wolverine will see Jackman in ninja-killing form, he’ll also be seen later this year in Prisoners, opposite Loki. No, this isn’t an Avengers crossover, but rather Jake Gyllenhal joining him as detective Loki.

Here’s the first trailer for that film which deals with the primal fear of all parents: Missing children.

Keller Dover is facing every parent’s worst nightmare. His 6-year-old daughter and her young friend are missing, and as minutes turn to hours, panic sets in. The only lead is a dilapidated RV that had been parked on their street. Heading the investigation, Detective Loki arrests its driver, but a lack of evidence forces the only suspect’s release. Knowing his child’s life is at stake, the frantic Dover decides he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. The desperate father will do whatever it takes to find the girls, but in doing so, may lose himself, begging the question: When do you cross the line between seeking justice and becoming a vigilante?

Looks like Jackman didn’t just lose his daughter, but a piece of himself as well in this future flick. Director Denis Villeneuve has managed to attract a pretty strong cast so far for Prisoners. Alongside Jackman and Gyllenhal,Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, Viola Davis and Paul Dano round out the feature.

It’s out in September, and it looks like a breath of fresh air compared to the other bigger budget blockbusters that have been on the circuit so far.
