You don’t often hear this, but there is one film out there that stars a combination of Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Steve Buscemi (guilty by assosciation!) and David Spade that won’t have you running for the exit. That film is Hotel Transylvania, an animated flick that went through several levels of development hell before animation legend Genddy Tartakovsky arrived to save the day and inject some genuine fun into the project.

And it worked! Hotel Transylvania made over $358 million worldwide, a sum which pretty much guaranteed a sequel. And here’s another look at that sequel, which reunites Sandler with his buddies, as Tartakovsky returns to once again make the flick his own, thanks to a certain dose of charm and style:

The Drac pack is back for an all-new monster comedy adventure in Sony Pictures Animation’s Hotel Transylvania 2! Everything seems to be changing for the better at Hotel Transylvania… Dracula’s rigid monster-only hotel policy has finally relaxed, opening up its doors to human guests. But behind closed coffins, Drac is worried that his adorable half-human, half-vampire grandson, Dennis, isn’t showing signs of being a vampire. So while Mavis is busy visiting her human in-laws with Johnny – and in for a major cultural shock of her own – “Vampa” Drac enlists his friends Frank, Murray, Wayne and Griffin to put Dennis through a “monster-in-training” boot camp. But little do they know that Drac’s grumpy and very old, old, old school dad Vlad is about to pay a family visit to the hotel. And when Vlad finds out that his great-grandson is not a pure blood – and humans are now welcome at Hotel Transylvania – things are going to get batty!

I love animation that has some extra effort put into it, and seeing the Sony models bend and contort Tartakovsky-style, has me sold on the technical level of this flick. Now to see if it can hold up as well in the story department.

Hotel Transylvania 2 grows some fangs on September 25.
