In the world of animated movies, Pixar’s flicks are undoubtedly the cream of the crop. They often boast a amazing blend of mature themes and intelligent storytelling wrapped around seemingly kiddy-centric characters and situations that means theres something for everyone to appreciate.

Unfortunately, not every animation house is Pixar, and sometimes animated movies are just about a surly squirrel and some other goofy rodents making childish fart jokes. Oh, and random dubstep. If any of this appeals to you then click through for the first trailer for The Nut Job.

“The Nut Job” is an action-packed animated comedy in fictional Oakton that follows the travails of Surly (voiced by Will Arnett), a mischievous squirrel, and his rat friend Buddy, who plan a nut store heist of outrageous proportions and unwittingly find themselves embroiled in a much more complicated and hilarious adventure.

Is it just me, or do some of those character models look like they’re recycled from other animated movies? Also, seriously, for real, what the hell was up with that dubstep bit?

The Nut Job features the voices of Will Arnett, Brendan Fraser, Liam Neeson and Katherine Heigl, and will be breaking into cinemas on January 17, 2014.
