Prepare for a wetter, hotter, more American sequel

2 min read

Back when it came out so many years, Wet hot American Summer was a flop at the box office. That doesn’t mean that the film wasn’t any good, but it the adventures of Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Amy Poehler, David Hyde Pierce and Janeane Garofalo set inside a sumemr camp experience achieved cult status once it hit DVD shelves.

And now, Wet Hot American Summer co-creator Michael Showalter wants to make a sequel to the classic shenanigans film.

Since its dissapointing release 11 years ago, American Summer Camp has seen its original cast become household names. Well some of them at least. They’re all on-board though for the sequel, which is something that will have many a Hollywood executive rubbing their hands in glee and whispering “good, gooood”.

It was an under-appreciated film, a spoof on all the cheesy summer camp films from the eighties that was filled with memorable quotes and epic meme-material, that surely did deserve a sequel.

No studio has officially signed up yet to bankroll the project, but with that much star power attached and an installed base of loyal fans anxious for a sequel, its only a matter of time.
