Stranger Things season 2 will return to Netflix in 2017, praise every genre! Produced by Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen and the Duffer Brothers it set off an explosion of nostalgia not seen since last year’s Star Wars and left many reeling for more. I managed to binge watch 8 episodes in a row and as can be imagined was devastated when it ended. Well season 2 apparently has 9 episodes so already it is sounding better!

21 Laps Entertainment will return as producers with duo Matt and Ross Duffer reprising their roles as writers which has me excited as they did such a sterling job of season 2 (even though there were rumours no one wanted to pick the show up in the first place!). This is pretty huge news for actors like Winona Ryder who seemed to disappear from acting for a few years before returning as Joyce, a desperate mother trying to find her son. However, for me it was the breakout performance of Millie Bobby Brown who plays a telekinetic child that really blew me away.

Stranger Things really appealed to me because it played with all the genres I loved as a child. Elements of science fiction, horror and the thriller genres appealed to a very wide audience, even Master of Horror Stephen King said it was superb. Then again with it’s tight directing solid cast and excellent pacing what’s not to like? Brother Matt said a while ago at the annual Television Critics Association press tour that they:

We want it to feel like a big movie. But there’s a bigger mythology, and there’s a lot of dangling threads at the end. We could explore it if Netflix wanted to continue.

Well thank you Netflix, we almost forgive you for the 6 movie deal you handed Adam Sandler… Almost.
