The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 was essentially half a good movie. How you take that sentence will depend entirely on what you thought of it – either only half of the movie was good, or it was a good movie but clearly only the first half of a story. I fell into the second camp, which is why I’ve actually looked forward to seeing how director Francise Lawrence wraps up this tale of Jennifer Lawrence’s reluctant revolutionary Katniss Everdeen.
That revolution will be in full swing later in the year, but Lionsgate has started the big promo push for it with the recent teaser trailer and now a series of character posters that was split among various publications (but collected handily by i09), which highlights all the revolutionaries including the aforementioned Katniss, Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Prim (Willow Shields), Finnick (Sam Claflin), Boggs (Mahershala Ali), Johanna (Jena Malone) and Cressida (Natalie Dormer). Check them all out below.
The epic global phenomenon of “The Hunger Games” arrives at its powerful final chapter with “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2” – in which Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) now fully realizes the stakes are no longer just for survival, they are for the future. With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss Everdeen confronts President Snow (Donald Sutherland) in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale (Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (Sam Claflin), and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) – Katniss goes off mission, using the unit from District 13 – and risking their lives – to stage an assassination attempt on President Snow increasingly obsessed with destroying her, the mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 also stars Donald Sutherland, Woody Harrelson, Jeffrey Wright, Julianne Moore, Stanley Tucci, Elizabeth Banks, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Gwendoline Christie. It is scheduled for release on November 20, 2015.
