While the genre has received a bit of jump lately with movies like Django Unchained and True Grit, I still feel that we see far too little westerns these days. Especially westerns where people constantly die in excessively violent – but utterly hilarious – ways. Luckily, this is where writer-director-actor Seth MacFarlane’s damn funny looking A Million Ways to Die in the West comes in.
Following on from yesterday’s posters, the first trailer for the film has been released and it looks to be as crass, bloody and just plain fun as we had hoped.
After a cowardly sheep farmer backs out of a gunfight, his fickle girlfriend leaves him for another man. When a mysterious and beautiful woman rides into town, she helps him find his courage and they begin to fall in love. But when her husband, a notorious outlaw, arrives seeking revenge, the farmer must put his newfound courage to the test.
Look, the Neil Patrick Harris song ‘n dance number would already have been enough to get me interested in this movie, but throw in outlaw Liam Neeson, sexually deviant Sarah Silverman and gags about living inside Charlize Theron’s vagina, and I’m sold!
A Million Ways to Die in the West will be shooting up – and badly missing – cinemas on May 30, 2014.
