Remember when Amy Adams was still just that rom-com girl and Jake Gyllenhaal was the weird Bubble Boy? The pair have certainly moved up in the world to the point where they are now Oscar nominated Hollywood heavyweights with serious dramatic chops.
And what better vehicle to part that Tinsel Town A-list street cred to use than by headlining a dark, serpentine character thriller like Nocturnal Animals?
Directed by fashion guru turned award-winning director Tom Ford (A Simple Man), the upcoming thriller seemingly sees the sophomore filmmaker doing his best David Fincher impersonation. And based on the film’s stylish and moody first trailer, it’s a damn good one!
It follows an insomniac art gallery owner Susan (Adams) whose estranged ex-husband Tony (Gyllenhaal) has penned a fictional novel dedicated to her. But the events of the novel – also acted out on-screen by Adams and Gyllenhaal, in some multi-layered storytelling – seem to mirror a dark secret that could unravel the real world lives of these two people. Ooh, meta!

Along with the trailer, we also have a series of four character posters focusing on Adams, Gyllenhaal, Michael Shannon and Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
Nocturnal Animals also stars Isla Fisher, Karl Glusman, Armie Hammer, Laura Linney, Andrea Riseborough, and Michael Sheen. It is scheduled for release on November 18, 2016.
