It’s been a while since I saw Owen Wilson in a movie that I didn’t get irritated at, so No Escape – a new action thriller set in Southeast Asia – really appeals to me for its serious tone. This is also the first time Wilson has tried his luck with being an action man again since 2001’s middling Behind Enemy Lines, which also featured lots of shots of him running away from people trying to shoot him.
Jack Dawyer (Owen Wilson) moves to Asia with his family, only to get caught in the middle of a coup, one that has any foreigner shot on sight. Sounds like a Tuesday in Thailand… It reminds me a little of The Purge with people going mental and killing everything that moves. It also has Pierce Brosnan in it and he appears to kick some ass. Well, so does Wilson! Have a look and see what you think.
No Escape opens 2 September and I think I am actually excited to see it.
