“WHERE’S MY ELEPHANT?!” Flying knee to the medulla oblongata.
That right there is the entire plot to Tom Yung Goong aka The Protector. And I loved it – and so did a bunch of you guys as well – because really, what further excuse do you need to watch Tony Jaa turn his limbs into weapons of mass destruction at the expense of some Aussies?
And now Mr Jaa is back to once again inflict grievous bodily harm on some unlucky fellows with Tom Yung Goong 2!
I have no idea whether these soon to be broken men have stolen Tony Jaa’s elephant, or even his goldfish, as this trailer is scant on the story, but it does show Jaa pulling out all the stops on the fights and stunts again, and really, that’s all we’re buying a ticket for.
There does seem to be some assistance from CG and wire-work in the film though, which is very unlike Jaa, and the 3D could get a bit gimmicky, but I’m not too worried though as it does boast Ong Bak and Chocolate director Prachya Pinkaew at the helm, and Panna Rittikrai – the famed action choreographer who essentially “made” Jaa the star he is today – will be back choreographing the brutal action.
Tom Yung Goong 2 is set for release in Thailand later in the year, but there’s no international dates booked yet.
