Video: First impressions of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

1 min read

So last night we watched the media screening for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Was it good? Was it bad? Well, the full review will swing its way to you next week, but just to whet your appetite here are our initial thoughts. Of course these may change as certain things sink in, certain realizations come to light, and depending on the type of weather; cus we’re consistent like that.

This is more of an opinion piece as we hadn’t had time to actually, you know, think and we may or may not have had something to drink… So enjoy us acting a little silly, and sorry about the wind. Kervyn speaks so much nonsense that sometimes nature needs to intervene.

So what do you think? Are you interested in going to see the new ‘Harry Potter‘ that actually really ISN’T Harry Potter? I think a few fans of the original series of movies are going to find Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them rather different in tone, and I think that is a good thing. After all we have another 4 movies in the works and I would hate to think they are all the same!

I have been an avid fan of movies ever since I discovered Santa Clause wasn't real, a day marked in my memory by my first viewing of It's a Wonderful Life, which wasn't so wonderful that day. Since then I've watched thousands of movies and even fooled my parents into putting me through uni to get a degree in the subject. I first started writing as a journalist for The South African Newspaper before moving onto communications for an NGO trying to save the planet. Unfortunately my recommendations to the CEO that we should all don rings imbued with the powers of earth, fire, wind, water and HEART went unheard. Now I pretend the end isn't nigh by hiding in movies.
