Over the last few years, Hollywood has often been accused of scraping the bottom of the creative barrel (Most recently by Darryn). I don’t agree though. I say they’ve long scraped clean through that barrel’s bottom, hit the worm infested ground beneath and just kept on going. They’re halfway to China already, by my reckoning.
And while that may seem a bit sensationalist, it’s hard to believe otherwise, when you read stories saying that Warner Bros are now looking to do a feature film adaptation of the Guinness Book of World Records.
As to exactly what a movie based on just an annual collection of “records” – and some of them really do stretch that definition to it’s breaking point – would be about, well that would be the problem of appointed screenwriter Danny Chun of The Office (US version) fame. Since he is involved, I’m guessing there will be some comedy aspect to this. You know, besides for the hilarity of the concept itself.
The film is being billed as a “global action adventure movie” so I’m guessing we’re going to be seeing some sort Father/Son or Mother/Daughter dynamic where they need to reconcile their differences while circling the globe in an atte- You know what? I can’t do it. Anything I think up, no matter how imaginative, sounds every bit as ridiculous as I thought it would.
