X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST gets some story details

Things have been quiet on the set of X-Men: Days of Future Past lately. The Bryan Singer directed sequel to the superb X-Men First Class is looking to bridge the divide between two X-Men universes, as well as that wretched Brett Ratner directed X-Men 3 film.

The addition of Peter “Game of thrones” Dinklage to the main cast has also raised a few eyebrows. Who could he possibly be playing? Stature aside, the man is a helluva an actor so ruling out any oompah loompah roles was a definite. Would he be playing the murderous funland operator Arcade? Nope, Dinklage will be playing someone far, far more influential in the film, as was revealed.

Dinklage will be handling the role of Bolivar Trask, creator of the mutant-hunting Sentinel robots. What that spells out for the film, is that this will most likely be the first proper appearance of those classic automatons, as the skyscraper-sized bots have been a constant menace in most X-Men incarnations. Vulture also picked up more plot details, which revealed that at least one good decision from X3: The Last Stand would be present:

Ellen Page returns as Kitty from the Brett Ratner–directed X-Men: The Last Stand, but this time she uses her powers to send Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine back into the past, where he encounters the younger mutants played by James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Michael Fassbender. However, something bad happens to Kitty during the time-travel trance, and while Wolverine is still under her spell, the other X-Men must race to find a mutant who can siphon Kitty’s powers and bring their friend back to the future.

Quantum tunneling, it allows you to time travel conveniently and for the sake of the plot! Meanwhile, the addition of Josh Helman to the film will see him play a younger version of Brian Cox’s William Stryker. X-Men Days of Future Past quantum tunnels into next year May, and stars (deep breath)  Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Halle Berry, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Evan Peters, Josh Helman, Lucas Till and Boo Boo Stewart.
