Here are some fun decks for the “Top 2” Hearthstone Tavern Brawl

Hearthstone

Tavern Brawl is easily one of my favourite modes in Blizzard’s Hearthstone. It’s arguably what got me horribly addicted to the card game in the first place! This week’s brawl, ‘Top 2’, is particularly interesting. Here’s its premise…

The Innkeeper is wondering which two cards work best together. Show him – choose 2 cards and we’ll fill your deck with them!

Initially, I thought it was a bit dumb. I mean, two cards? How on earth does one build a successful deck with such limitations?

As it turns out, there are many, many excellent combos just waiting to be used! Here’re just a few examples of what I’ve made or encountered myself thus far…

Deadly Sap Rogue

Hearthstone PoisonHeathstone Sap

This deck for Rogue is quite basic. Equip a weapon, and don’t attack with it until it’s had a few deadly poisons thrown at it (preferably to 15 attack if possible). If the enemy plays any creeps, just sap them back to their hand!

This is the first deck I made for this Tavern Brawl. It won me two games in a row, until…

Ice-cold Mage

Heathstone Ice LanceHearthstone Frostbolt

Yeah, my Rogue deck did absolutely nothing against this annoying Mage one. I could never move, and there was never anything to sap!

The combo here is pretty straight forward. Throw a frostbolt at an enemy, followed by a barrage of ice lances for maximum damage. If all goes well, you should be able to destroy the enemy before they do the same to you. The only downside to this deck is that a hand can deplete very quickly.

Quick Draw Druid

Hearthstone InnervateHearthstone Oracle

When my opponent began innervating and throwing down Coldlight Oracles, I laughed. “Thank you” I said, around four times in a row before I realised what was happening.

My hand filled up quickly, which was nice, but soon enough, it was too full. Not only that, the other side of the board was at capacity by the end of round two. I had my Rogue deck above at the time, and I just couldn’t sap the Oracles fast enough!

Evolving Shaman

Hearthstone EvolveHearthstone Bilefin

This is easily the most successful deck I’ve run this Tavern Brawl so far. I had three quests to complete yesterday, and I finished them all in the matter of around 10-15 minutes thanks to these two cards.

It works best if you start with a coin. On turn 1, throw out a Bilefin Tidehunter. On turn two, Evolve the two creeps twice, or throw out another Murloc, and buff the entire board three times the following turn. PROFIT!

Flash Damage Priest

Hearthstone HealHearthstone Soulpriest

This is a deck a friend showed me. It’s a little trickier to pull off, because it takes a while to get online (Auchenai Soulpriest costing 4 mana delays it all).

If you can manage it though – keep yourself alive long enough that is – the results are quite magical. Flash heal does a ton of damage for 1 mana, and can be used to clear the board, or nuke the enemy in the face!

These are just a few examples of what’s possible in this week’s Tavern Brawl. What decks have you been running? Got any game-breaking duos of your own to show off?

Aaargh damn Android version more unstable than South African politician with building budget.. 2 crashes now just to check my collection. now Had 5 crashes on Tuesday, 3 of which as I kill the enemy hero.

        Shifter Zerus is the legendary

But in the same 3 pack Quest reward I got 2 epics Wisp of the Old Gods and Forbidden Ancient which have awesome combination options in Druid decks.

A Shifter Zerus can save your behind a lot of times if it transforms into something right where your mana is currently at.

What deck are you using for ladder play? I am mostly using a Reno lock that’s doing pretty good at keeping the field clear.

My ladder play is kak 😛 I can only get to like rank 15!

With new expansion, rocking a Yogg-Saron mage. Tons of spells + chaos 😀 I drop him whenever I can which often works against me xD but it’s so fun!!!

I’ve put together a C’Thun priest and Deathrattle Rogue (still need N’Zoth for it though). Both need to be tweaked slightly before I take em to ladder though 🙂

I really need to put together a Reno deck. Never ever used the card 😛

15, I’m firmly stuck at 20 and mostly because I can not loose stars.

Think you need to drop some serious Magic the gathering type moola to be really competitive.

The strongest cards in the game come from the adventure expansions. So if you ever cave and want to spend money, buy one adventure 😛

I still need to start this months ladder. But with the overwatch beta I never really had time to throw down this month.

The feeling when you burst a Reno lock to 1 HP on turn 5 and he top-decks Reno on turn 6… Reno decks make me so salty!

Not that I’ve played any tavern mode; how do you manage these types of combos in normal games.

I have a few in a deck but most of the times I end being sniped/bled to death before drawing a combination.

    Some cooler combos:

Warlock: Stonetusk Boar + Power Overwhelming
Mage: Mana Wyrm + Roaring Torch

    Really enjoyed this tavern brawl….

Used the Mage combo you suggested above. Only played 2 games but both times they quit when they saw the cards I chose
