A whole five new screenshots of The Last Guardian have surfaced

The Last Guardian was first announced for the PlayStation 3 way back in 2009, with a planned release for sometime in 2011. Well, have you looked at your calendar lately? We’re already in 2016, in case you hadn’t noticed.

The highly anticipated title from the people who brought you the likes of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus received numerous delays. Sorry, did I say numerous? I meant a million or so!

It was so bad that nobody actually knew whether The Last Guardian would see the light of day. To be perfectly frank, it was well on its way into Half-Life 3 territory – a dark place from whence games never return.

But the developers have since steered the ship back on course, and away from that dangerous place. The Last Guardian is definitely coming, and soon. It’ll be releasing this year as a matter of fact, toward the end of October.

There there, I understand your concerns. What if it gets delayed again? Or worse, what if it gets cancelled? Stay strong Umar, because I actually got some hands on time with the game at E3, which leads me to believe that such an event is very unlikely to happen!

To further cement the fact that the game is actually real, Sony have dropped five new screenshots (one for every three years of development according to Darryn – HA). Here they are in all their glory (via Game Informer):

Boy and Trico? Check. Towering ruins? Check. Promise of many feels when the game releases? Yeah, it’s all there!

I enjoyed my time with The Last Guardian at E3, though I’m really not sold on the controls and the wonky camera. Despite that, I’m confident that the story it aims to tell will be a memorable one.
