30 minutes of Call of Duty Ghosts and screenshots

Last night Activision kicked off E3 early with a special 30 minute Live Stream of Call of Duty:Ghosts. Granted it’s no longer live but you can still watch the entire thing here. It’s a nice move from Activision, who aren’t big E3 supporters, and so if you are interested in checking how the game plays and what the developers think then you need to watch this.

The Livestream starts off with a bit of a chat before we go straight into the under water stage of Call of Duty: Ghosts and I have to say I wasn’t prepared for how fantastic it looked… just look at the lighting and textures when they go through that tunnel.

I’m a huge fan of the single player campaigns in Call of Duty, they have always felt like big blockbuster action movies that I can exist in and it looks like I’m not going to be let down by Infinity Ward.

If you don’t have time for a 30 minute video, you’re letting yourself down but we understand, here are some screenshots.

I can’t justify its graphics as those of a next gen game :/ It’s one of the worst displays of next-gen I’ve seen.

Totally serious.. when he goes into the cave and the underwater coral is translucent… that was awesome.. It’s hard to see really on a stream but I personally think it is looking really good

I think its ok but compared to PC games out today Metro Last Light looks much better esp lightning wise.

Have to agree with Johan, the graphics really aren’t that impressive. Maybe to console gamers 😛

its CoD, the users here have always been butthurt around this game.
that, and I think peoples expectations of next gen are way too high.

Any CoD related article will attract a shit-tonne of “well they did what we asked, gave us a new engine, but its not quite next gen enough because CoD.”

Sure it looks better. But graphics alone doesn’t sell a game for me.

I dont mean to be insulting but firstly yes it may be “next gen” but doesnt look that great and also the dog seriously would never take down people like that, he would be of a issue to the team more than an asset. dog take down guy would growl or bark complete giveaway enemy shoot the shit outta you. cliffs and shit like that would scare dog and still could get easily hurt. they should include dog in ghost but only for certain parts…..If it is like that then sweet id be happy but still a little unreaslistic with dog.

You’d be surprised how well trained and brave these dogs actually are. Sure the game seriously over-exaggerates a bit but those dogs would easily cross the cliffs like that and not cause a scene.
They are also trained to be quiet unless instructed otherwise.

I will agree that they took it to the extremes though and are trying too hard with the dog, but it’s not all bad 😛

Check out a movie called Glory Hounds. Very good doccie about the dogs used in Iraq to find IED’s and the soldiers who partner them.

It looks good but with so much hype and pressure how can it not be good. That would just be an epic fail, or should I say an ActiFail

Looks very pretty I must admit. Not quite next-gen pretty but still a HUGE step up from previous games.

The only problem I have is that, while rifles can shoot underwater due to the nature of a bullet’s self contained state, the bullets can’t travel nearly far enough to actually do any damage at all. The bullets would travel a few feet at most.

Well, I’m no expert so I’m sure it must be something along those lines.

But I’m being petty. The gameplay actually looks fun and I’m sure the underwater section will be fun to play. It actually looks like they’ve poured a lot of effort in to the SP and for that I am rather pleased as it means I could actually enjoy a CoD game again 🙂

I despise under water stages… I’m hoping it’s only a small part of the game… just being used to show the light refraction and all

They are using the newest Russian ADS amphibious/underwater rifles (model quite accurate), uses specially shaped subsonic 5.45 underwater ammunition underwater (effective killing range of 15 to 20 feet) and normal 5.45 ammo above water.

Ah cool. Well thanx for that 🙂 I feel better now. I’m not usually one for super realism but there are a few things that do get to me. Now that, that has been cleared up I’m kinda looking forward to it.

I actually find the dog portion unrealistic and over the top (which I was afraid of). Dog bursting through wooden window frames and doors?

As wise man said: Do not let realty ruined good story. In COD case would wreck little remaining story they had.

I have nothing against a little fantasy in my shooterz. MGS is my one of my all time favourite series’. That said, a lot of what CoD does is self-indulgent ‘MURICA nonsense. I can live with that, but the execution puts me off. Modern Warfare was special. Great game. TitanFall is the closest you will get to re-experiencing that magic, because it has a lot of the original Infinity Ward team behind it.

That’ I’m ok with again. I want games to usea bit of creative licence to be a little over the top and a little unbelievable. That’s the point of entertainment. To provide a over the top experience that one can enjoy.

            But naturally within limits

Agreed. Looks better, good for them… Still not what I would be expecting from them compared to other games I’ve played before. They can do better. They should simply invest their time better, and not bring out a new game every year and dish out what they could in a smaller time frame. Not gonna buy this one, unless I’ve played it first. Learned my lesson with Black Ops 2.

This is Activision. Their business practice is to sample something, then run it into the ground if it’s a success. CoD will be an annual thing until people stop buying it.

        RIP Guitar Hero.

CoD SP is generally always a tight affair with very few dull moments. After spending over 250hrs in Skyrim and over 300 hrs in Civ5 it’s always nice to be able to pick up something like this as it feels like a bullet train compared to those titles.

OK fine… let’s say you can… maar dan exit hy die control, en dan is hy skielik waar die hond is… en die ander dude wat orals die perfekte execution position het, is nou skielik ook terug en by die hond… *FACEPALM*!
