SchindlersList

I gotta admit, I love a good list.  Anything from top 10 cars to top 100 babes always gets the old argumentative juices flowing.  When it comes to games lists, the arguments become even more vociferous because gamers’ tastes are so incredibly varied.  That’s the thing about gaming lists. They are so unique and individualized that even Siamese twins would have different top 10 choices!

You can check out BraveNewGamer for their opinion on what the top 20 "must play" games are, but if you want to see a correct version, here they are (in no particular order) :

  • Star Control II
  • Grim Fandango
  • Starcraft
  • Half-Life 1
  • Portal
  • No One Lives Forever
  • Baldur’s Gate
  • Metal Gear Solid
  • Civilization
  • Grand Theft Auto 3

Yes, I know that there are only 10 games on this list, but I think that gives each one a more hallowed aura.  Lots of games are top 20 fodder, but to get into the top 10 you have to be memorable, revolutionary and captivating.  I reckon the top 10 above all fall into this bracket, but its always cool to see what other gamers lists look like…

What no Elite ? ,the original space sims RPG of all time.

Just kidding Star controll II is by far the best in that category ever, and not to include at least one Lucasart
    adventure game a shame.

Haven’t played a few on there but the one i did belong there.

Lol, Elite… man I played alot of that game. I played with a friend, I flew and he control weapons shooting etc… can’t say he did very much other than holding down the space bar when an enemy was in the sights, but man! what a great time that was!

      (SC2 was superb)

    Good list!
Top 10 is a bit restrictive because there have been so many gems. The early generation Sierra games were both entertaining and a great way to learn to type 🙂
