Alone in the Dark doing well in Europe but what about us?

2 min read

[Update]I have to say my apologies to Megarom, I never actually asked them for the local figures before writing this article (The last time I asked was quite a while ago and I really should have checked again) and they are now quite rightly upset that I implied I did. Megarom have kindly agreed to put together the local release figures which will be ready for posting towards the end of next week.

I have also gotten in contact with GFK who handle a lot of the stats for local hardware sales and we are in discussions to present you with these figures soon enough. [/Update]

Even though this game is not getting the worlds best reviews I still want it to do well, mainly because I feel they are being original with the game and trying new options which deserves to be rewarded.

So I am glad to see this morning that I have a press release telling me how fantastically well Alone in the Dark is doing in Europe…. but what really annoys me is that it was sent by a SA company and yet says nothing about South African sales.

You would think by now that we would be able to hear something about the sales locally but no matter who I ask I just get a no comment. [Update: If you read this far without reading the top please check again… ]

At one stage I was hours away from being given official SA sales figures for the consoles, and then I don’t know what happened but everything went quiet.

There is no logic in it either as all the main guys (Megarom, EA, SK, MiDigital, Core etc) have access to these sales figures so it’s not like I am going to be giving away industry secrets by releasing them.

I am going to try and hassle GFK (the number crunchers) again and see if I have any luck. If any of the suppliers are reading this and don’t mind me releasing the figures please press GFK as well… you know who you are.

Or even yet be the countries idol for a day and give us your own official figures for sales…
