Anti-gravity racer lands on Steam

One of the first racing games I ever played gave me vehicles that weren’t even bound to the ground. I’m of course talking about Wipeout. That futuristic racer was a ton of fun back on the original PlayStation, and the later iteration on the PlayStation 3, Wipeout HD, was rather good too. If you’ve missed out on that franchise because REASONS, there is something similar on PC now. Quantum Rush: Champions has hit Steam Early Access.

Here’s the trailer showing the game, some vehicle customisations, and the various game modes (via Destructoid)

Quantum Rush: Champions is now available via Steam Early Access! It is a standalone single-player racing game currently being developed by GameArt Studio for the PC!

It genuinely looks awesome. The visuals are great, and the gameplay looks buttery smooth. What  has me scratching my head though is the lack of multiplayer. It seems that Quantum Rush: Champions is a solo affair.

Seeing as it is still in Early Access, I’m hoping the developers will add in that component at a later stage. It’s the kind of game that can obviously benefit from it. Here’s what you can expect from the single player in the meantime:

Be prepared for high-speed races against challenging AI pilots on huge race tracks on earth and in space, fight your opponents with mounted cannons and special pick-up weapons, use an extensive system for modifying and upgrading racers and fly many different racers with manufacturer-dependent perks!

  • career mode
  • 3 independent campaigns
  • many different challenges
  • a total of 21 bosses
  • extensive statistics
  • 14 race tracks
  • unlock upgrades, racers & tracks
  • arcade mode
  • challenging artificial intelligence

If you are interested, it costs only $4.99. You can check it out on Steam right here.
