Are You Going to Buy Kinect?

1 min read

So we learned what Kinect’s final pricing would be – and all those retailers that “guessed” $149 just happened to be right. We also learned how much the motion sensing peripheral would cost locally; a whopping R1999, the equivalent of nearly $265. There’s been a fair bit of outcry about $150 being too expensive for the American market – making our price worthy of riots!

That is, to be frank, just too much. There are some intriguing applications for the device; Dance Central, Kinectimals and Milo and Kate in particular have made me interested, but so far there’s no killer, must have app. Considering the price – and what else could be done with 2K – are you going to be buying Kinect? Me? I’d rather spend that money on vodka, caviar and a Swedish hooker. at least I know I can play with that sitting or lying down.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
