Beyond: Two Souls has a budget 10% the size of GTA V

Beyond Two Souls

All the interest is around GTA V at the moment and as it should be, this is the biggest game of this, and any other, generation and so there are a lot of eyeballs glued to its numbers.

The one big number we’ve spoken about before was that it had an incredible $266 million budget which is by far the biggest gaming budget ever.

But there is another highly anticipated title on the horizon and that is the PS3 exclusive Beyond: Two Souls. This is David Cage’s next title after the highly acclaimed Heavy Rain and as such there is a lot of interest to see if he has been able to bottle that lightning a second time.

This new title however has more of a budget than before and as such he has been able to sign on Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe to add some star power to the title and yet his budget is still only around 10% of GTA’s budget.

In an interview with the French website, lefigaro, David confirms that the game is being fully funded by Sony to the tune of 20 million Euros, $27.5 million or R266 754 000.

It’s still a bucket load of money but just a drop in the ocean compared to GTA V. This isn’t surprising though as Quantic Dreams isn’t in the industry of making mass market games but rather appeal to smaller niche markets who are more interested in the depth of the story telling rather than the size and scale of the gameplay.

I personally can’t wait to see how Beyond: Two Souls turns out when it is released later this year.

I started Sleeping Dogs yesterday, it’s like playing GTA Hong Kong. It’s pretty good so far.

Sleeping Dogs is an awesome game! It’s like GTA but with kung fu instead of guns (the use of guns is miniscule in that game).

So good, in fact, I even recently downloaded and completed all the dlc for it too. Just a ton of fun – like taking Batman Arkham Asylum/City and merging it with GTA and then setting the resulting game in Hong Kong. Very good game and totally underrated by some.

The fighting is awesome, is a lot like the Batman games. The story & voice acting is pretty top notch too. So that’s what I’ll be doing tomorrow, with only a brief interruption to braai some man food.

Sleeping Dogs is awesome! One of the best games of last year. There are days that I actually want to replay it. I guess that’s my recommendation. If a game fired up my engines and still keeps the engines fired well after I’ve finished it.

Pre-ordered this game a while back. Heavy Rain was amazing in terms of the story it told and everything I’ve seen of B2S looks so good too… Can’t wait to get stuck in. 🙂

Was blown away by the detail underwater… So not only is the above water world detailed, but so is the underwater world?! I mean, that is some crazy attention to detail! It’s fantastic – and probably part of the reason why they’ve now had $1billion in sales in the first 3 days… 3 days! Best entertainment launch in history (beating the COD machine, whose best was $1billion in 15 days). Crazy… But a well done to Rockstar, for sure!

you gotta go in the deeper ocean, there is a boat at the end of the docks (where i put the star), climb in, ride it out to the ocean and when u jump out you have scuba gear. scuba dive for a while and they’ll pop up,

      *EXCUSE THE SHITTY QUALITY PICTURE

Pls don’t taint Beyond:Two Souls with GTA references / comparisons…GTA V is just another typical GTA game that’s been bloated to draw attention.

This is getting silly now. Not every article has to be in some way gta related. Mgs5’s map is half the size of gta v, gran turismo has more cars than gta. Come on guys. Getting ridiculous

Don’t order from Takealot, they just take a lot of your cash. They want R100 more for games than Kalahari or BTGames. Ever since the new owners their prices just went up and up.
