Call of Duty 4 overtakes Gears

1 min read

So Call of Duty 4  has been out for just over a week and has overtaken Gears of War in the Live activity list.

Halo 3 is happily holding on to it’s number 1 spot, honestly I can only imagine that it is the Americans playing that since it has pretty much died in South Africa and by the looks of it Europe as well.

COD4 is an awesome game and I can see it holding its high position for a few weeks to come, whether it has the longevity of Gears is still to be seen however.

What I find relatively disturbing is that Guitar Hero is in the top 10 list 3 times, so many failed rockstars in this world 🙂

1 Halo 3
2 Call of Duty 4
3 Gears of War
4 Guitar Hero III
5 Madden NFL 08
6 Guitar Hero II
7 Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® Vegas
8 Guitar Hero III Demo
9 Assassin’s Creed
10 Forza Motorsport 2

Oh and on the arcade side here the top 10 list

1 Switchball
2 Word Puzzle
3 Sonic The Hedgehog 2
5 Screwjumper!
6 TMNT 1989 Arcade
7 Shrek-n-Roll
8 Bomberman LIVE
9 Worms
10 Tetris Splash

UNO is pretty evergreen but the rest are swapping quite quickly…

I love the CoD multiplayer- it has so much more depth to it and the ranking system works perfectly. The fact that you can invite friends to a ranked match is great and the way the server splits up the teams evenly is much better than Gears.

Halo 3 is fun to play for a quick fix but I have not played it for quite a while.

I agree about CoD4 online, where it gets it so right is that it trusts the players and lets you play pretty much anything you want with friends ranked, unlike gears or halo.
