Call of Duty Modern Warfare could have a battle royale mode that is triple the size of Blackout

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare getting a battle royale mode would be about as surprising as seeing a blue sky or Geoff’s face contort into a collection of horrified muscles whenever I make dinner recommendations. The genre is still popular, it happens to be the saving grace of Call of Duty Black Ops the fourth and it’d feel like a downgrade not to have it present in Modern Warfare.

While Modern Warfare brings back the campaign action with a story that is designed to make you feel when it hammers home the horrors of war (Yeah, good luck getting those themes across to an audience that will probably delight in the mayhem of emotions that Infinity Ward is going for), rumours say that this year’s take on Battle Royale is going to result in a BIG mode.That’s according to Call of Duty Modern Warfare News on the social hub, so take it all with a pinch of salt.

Anyway, this year’s battle royale will apparently feature a map that’s triple the size of Blackout and allow for up to 200 players to drop in for a few rounds of Last Man Standing. The map will be designed to be a mix of close quarters combat and more traditional open spaces that’ll have snipers buzzing with delight.

There’ll also be a revive system (REVIVE MEEEEEE), Supply drops and a cash system at play. The mode is apparently also being planned for launch day, but chances are that it’ll probably end up being delayed. So far the mode has only been tested with 152 players, but it does sound tempting considering the mass exodus from Fortnite and PUBG that Blackout created when it launched last year.

Modern Warfare will be out October 25, just in time for everyone to forget about Blackout if these rumours do turn out to be true.
