If there’s one thing that I love about buying a new game, its getting my hands on a collectors edition. This year has been great so far, with regards to limited edition swag, such as the Gears of War 3 Octavious medal that I fashioned into an awesome necklace, or the Arkham City boxset, with its awesome statue.

Yep, it’s been a great time to hurriedly unwrap and huff those fresh new plastic smells, and next year looks even better with what the distributors have lined up for us.

Star Wars The Old Republic may not have the most concrete release date here locally, if at all, but when it comes to George Lucas’ hallowed film series, the fans will always find a way. Ordering yourself the collectors edition will net you the following booty:

tor721

  • Exclusive Gentle Giant Darth Malgus statue
  • Game disks collectible metal case
  • The Journal of Master Gnost-Dural as annotated by Satele Shan
  • The Old Republic galaxy map
  • Custom Security Authentication Key
  • Music of Star Wars: The Old Republic CD
  • High-quality Collector’s Edition box

And as for digital content:

    • Flare Gun
    • Training Droid
    • HoloDancer
    • HoloCam
    • STAP
    • Exclusive Mouse Droid
    • Exclusive Collector’s Edition Store

Next up, we have the upcoming Diablo 3, and much like the special edition that was released with Blizzards other signature franchise, Starcraft, we can expect some similar goodies when the game finally rolls around next year on PC, and hopefully console soon:

  • Diablo 3 art-book
  • Diablo 3 Soundtrack
  • Diablo skull and 4gig USB soulstone. (The soulstone USB fits into the skull as a resting place/decoration item)
  • Behind the scenes Blu-Ray and DVD set

And of course, some exclusive in game content

  • Aesthetic artefacts
  • World of Warcraft pet Fetish Shaman
  • Starcraft 2 Battle.net portraits

Start pawning your children and organs everybody, because the near future of gaming looks like an expensively fun time ahead.
