Dark Souls II gets a trilogy of DLC

Dark souls DLC

How many people will honestly finish Dark Souls II? It’s not that I doubt you all, but realistically speaking, it just isn’t a game that many will complete. However, there will be extra content for those who are looking for more.

In a new video, From Software shows off the trilogy of DLC collectively named the Lost Crowns trilogy. In it, players will seek to reclaim the crowns of Drangleic’s King Vendrick. Check out this pretty video:

Episode One, Crown of the Sunken King, will be available at the end of July, followed by Crown of the Old Iron King (end August) and Crown of the Ivory King (end September). Players can also opt to purchase a Season Pass to get the full trilogy. According to the video descriptors:

Crown of the Sunken King features an entirely different world within the DARK SOULS II universe, where stepped pyramids span a vast underground cavern. It is said that one of the ancient crowns lay buried deep within these dark caverns; but surely such a valued item cannot sit unguarded. Players that seek adversity and glory will be rewarded with a crown that holds the strength of lords from times long past.

There is a lot to be excited about in this DLC. It shows of some beautiful new areas, crazy new enemies (those poison statues can move now) and an opportunity for Dark Souls fans to get more content. It will certainly be a must-play for those interested in an experience that’s closer to the original, complete with praying to dragon murals.

I don’t need to tell you all that DLC irritates me. I wish these were included in the original games, and I definitely believe that those who purchase Collector’s Editions should automatically get the Season Pass. However, it’s great to see more added to this world, even if most players won’t manage to complete the original game. I just hope there are opportunities in the underground caverns to still praise the sun.

I finished it. But… have no idea what the fcuk the 20second ending was about or why there was no alternate ending like in 1.
Got halfway into NEW GAME plus and then just lost all interest.

I feel that the game was focused around the PvP instead of the MAGIC that DS1 was.

    Moved on.

Did you read about the 8 blue flames. Most interesting part of the game. But I have to agree with you. The gameplay is solid actually. but everything else was lost in the process

The end Boss was so underwhelming. I kept thinking that I had missed something while the credits rolled. So I went onto the internet to research the game as I stayed away to make sure I finished it on my own. It seems allot of people were let dow.

The blue flames are there to give some sort of incentive to do NEW GAME PLUS 8.

I don’t know… It was an odd game.

Indeed. New game + 8 , dayum. And it was odd, best way to describe. It’s hard to formally word exactly what was missing. Technically it’s easy, but, that indescribable SOUL of the series just wasn’t there

I think the word you’re looking for is “accessible”?

Meh. That’s why I run around hollowed 99% of the time in DS1. Not interested. Doesn’t work like that in DS2 right?

I don’t know, I played off-line. But I think its the same concept of being Human or hollow.

I don’t think it was as accessible as it’s made out to be. To me, the gameplay was largely improved upon.I mean the Gulch was in no way accessible. The bonfire teleporting though, I think that ruined a lot, especially in terms of immersion. The world felt, disjointed

I think that what made 1 so great was when you unlocked a ladder, door or area and realised that the bonfire that you were hoping to appear was the one you were at last. You just found a short cut and can see the entire world even if it was 5 times smaller than 2.

Also what was up with all the teleporting at the start of the game? Otherwise it ran and felt solid at a locked frame rate of 30fps. 🙂

As a veteran of Demon and Dark Souls I’m sitting this one out. Maybe Ive had too much Souls for now.

Best wait for Project Beast. The director of Demon and DS 1 is back for Beast. He wasn’t there for DS 2

Have no quarrels with this. For those that played Artorias of the Abyss, you know it’s gonna be awesome. This is DLC of value at least not just some weapon pack…That said. DS 2 is still kinda weak, much weaker when compared to DS 1.

ALSO, Vendrick is a pussy…..Freaking easily manipulated, scared SOB. I cut your feet…I CUT YOUR FEET!

Will see on the next sale. Too many games. Though I’ve worked off 75% of my backlog already. Probably one of the bigger accomplishments of my life 😉

Yeah I finished it, I did enjoy it, cant complain too much, but I just had no inclination to finish NG+.
The ending pissed me off a bit, as did the last boss. I remember the last boss of DS1 took me days to kill, would try for a couple hours, lose my shit, stop for the day, repeat next day.
This last boss was done in a few tries, cue shitty ending, done.

I would be very keen to have more content, but I fucking hate DLC and loathe to support it, so Im a bit conflicted here.

I finished it, then decided to fight off those gargoyles – only to realise that I’m going to be ripped apart again. Then I started DS1 and all love for Souls renewed 😛
