Dead Space 2 Collector’s Edition Announced – DO WANT!

All of you who admit to being suckers for flashy Collector’s Editions raise your hand. Mine’s up… anybody else’s?

Well, here are some details on the newly announced CE for Dead Space 2, as well as a nice, shiny picture of what the whole package will contain. Let’s all join hands and pray we get this version in South Africa, unlike the awesome Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood Collector’s Edition that comes with a jack-in-the-box. I so wanted the jack-in-the-box.

The standard stuff is there: a copy of the actual game (duh!); a code for downloadable content netting you a Unitology Suit and Force Gun (no idea what those are but they sound cool); some concept art lithographs; the Dead Space 2 soundtrack; a copy of Dead Space Extraction (which will feature Move support for the PS3 version); and a replica of Isaac’s Plasma Cutter.

A replica. Of Isaac’s. Plasma. Cutter. This is the best thing ever because now you won’t have to fear the dark after extended Dead Space sessions – you’ll be armed! I have a love-hate relationship with Dead Space: I love it because EA took a gamble on a new IP and it paid off with a deliciously atmospheric game; I hate it because it scares the crap out of me to such an extent that I still need to finish the first game. Fortunately I have some time to do that as Dead Space 2 is only out on 25 January 2011.
