Hearthstone

I’ve developed a bit of a Hearthstone addiction over the past few months (the Whispers of the Old Gods expansion only made it worse). This is quite a strange turn of events, especially considering that I spent a year or two absolutely hating Blizzard’s addictive card game, and refused to so much as touch it. Skill? Ha! We all know it’s luck-based, right?

Wrong! Sure, there’s still that small element of chance, but since picking Hearthstone up again and taking the time to properly explore the game, I’ve learnt that a lot of thought and strategy is what’s needed if one is to be any good. The only reason I sucked (and still suck) at it actually, is because I tend to throw out cards willy-nilly, without really considering all my options.

I’ve also learnt that a solid deck is, believe it or not, very important. With so many hundreds of cards out there though, it can be a bit daunting to put one together, let alone one that’s actually any decent.

Thankfully, there are pro players out there who do all the hard work and research. Copying their efficient and powerful decks won’t ensure a smooth trip to a higher rank (you need to take the time to learn exactly how to play them too), but it’s definitely a step in the right direction if you’re looking to improve your overall game.

As luck would have it, 8 top Hearthstone players have just shared their decklists for the upcoming Europe Spring Championship. Take a look…

The Spring Season has also brought with it a few changes: all player decks are now revealed publicly prior to the event and season Championships will now be a best of 7 conquest format where players will bring 5 decks and have 1 ban rather than the normal 4 decks and 1 ban. Our 8 finalists have now locked in their decks for this weekend’s event so without further ado here they are in all their glory!

That’s all good and well, but I’m a few thousand dust short of putting pretty much all of those decks together. Dammit, the grind continues!

At least I can look forward to watching some competitive Hearthstone this weekend. The Europe Spring Championship kicks of on Saturday, at 18:00 CEST.
