Destiny

Destiny is almost upon us, with most of you getting a taste of the upcoming Bungie game thanks to some Alpha-lovin’. That was exclusive to the PlayStation 4 though, with all other platforms getting the cold shoulder despite the fact that the game will be available on them in September. And here’s a number of other exclusive features that PlayStation owners will be experiencing soon.

According to the PS Blog, they’ve leveraged the following benefits from Activision:

At launch, PS4 and PS3 owners will get exclusive access to a unique co-op Strike located on Mars, an exclusive competitive map, and a slew of exclusive guns, gear, and ships. Read on for the full details below.

Dust Palace Strike

Destiny PS (1)

An exclusive three-player cooperative Strike that can be played with friends or match made. You’ll track a Cabal extraction team through the husks of an ancient human skyscraper, the Dust Palace, buried in the shifting dunes of Mars and face a new enemy, the Psion Flayers.

Exodus Blue Competitive Multiplayer Map

Destiny PS (2)

A mid-sized Crucible arena that pairs perfectly with Control and Skirmish game modes. The Exodus Blue, a long-dead vessel, once brought hope and humanity to worlds beyond Earth. Here, Guardians challenge one another, forging a new hope and future in the fires of the Crucible.

Gear

Destiny PS (3)

For the Warlock class, Manifold Seeker armor that was built to help Warlocks survive the secret realms of the Vex.

Destiny PS (4)

For the Titan class, Vanir, a battle-tested armor set forged to protect Titans against the heavy firepower of the Cabal.

Destiny PS (5)

For the Hunter class, Argus, a durable all-environment wire-weave for those out to scout the frontier.

Weapons

Destiny PS (6)

The Monte Carlo, an exotic assault rifle, is a handcrafted showpiece with a sleek look that masks the cruel reality of its function — the efficient elegant delivery of war against any who would tarnish its legacy. Upgrades increase the weapon’s “hip fire” effectiveness and boost melee cool down, providing a firm grounding for close range domination.

Destiny PS (7)

The Hawkmoon, an exotic hand cannon, is a true gunslinger’s weapon — a smooth sidearm that makes every bullet count with intricate “hawk feather” etchings carved into the weapon’s silvered barrel. Damage boosts increase the combat effectiveness, making it a formidable weapon.

Ships

Destiny PS (10)

Aurora Wake – A hull lined with arcane instruments, crafted by a circle of Warlocks – gifting the ship with a preternatural sense for the strange.

Destiny PS (8)

Crypt Hammer – A deep-strike insertion variant, built to carry Guardians safely through contested space. Carries hardpoints once used to hold Suros TL-SEAD anti-radiation missiles.

Destiny PS (9)

Outrageous Fortune – A rugged, versatile explorer for those ready to gamble everything in search of ancient secrets and alien power.

Destiny is out in September, with an extended Alpha on right now and a Beta on the way.

From the interviews it almost seems that they know they are going to do it, they just don’t want to confirm it currently. I’m not ready to by a PS4 just yet, and I won’t get Destiny for the PS3, so I really hope they do release it on PC next year 🙁

Halo and Bungie was the heart of Xbox.

Sony is going for the heart of the Xbox. Exclusive content and the way Sony is promoting Destiny.

Without Bungie being a Microsoft exclusive, Xbox One has no heart and Sony knows this, come get some exclusive Xbox heart on PS4.

Ps. Xbox heart plays and looks better on PS4.

I don’t think Microsoft bought Bioware. So I don’t think EA bought Bioware from Microsoft.

But I can understand the disappointment about EA acquiring Bioware.

Bungie owns themselves now. Only got a 10 year publishing deal with Activision.

I think Bioware only had a publishing deal with Microsoft

“Halo and Bungie was the heart of Xbox.” << For the first Xbox yes. If you know your Halo's, 343 Industries has brought the best Halo to date.

You make me laugh. 5 Halo games compared to 1. Six if you include Destiny.

Halo 3 took a year or 2 to come out on the Xbox 360, but I think it was a console seller. And technically a good game.

343 with it’s one game and lots of Halo paint job games. I wonder who’s games they painting.

When I look at Destiny, all I see is Halo. It takes more than just a Master Chief to make Halo game.

The Alpha was great!! I had some very cool moments in the game already!! And I will buy it without a doubt!! Sad my character from the Alpha will just be gone come Beta, but it is more fair that way I guess!! I liked the little fella, will try and create him again!!

1 thing I liked about the Wildstar beta was that you could save the appearance customization of your character as a string and reinput it later.

That would have helped, but I get why they would wipe it. There were a few guys who you couldn’t kill, and everyone was locked at level 8…. You had to get a grenade on their ass and empty a full auto clip in them and then perhaps they would go down!! Maybe I am just too much of a noob!!!

The titan class is definitely overpowered, too much armour… and they pack a mean punch. Hunters seem to be a bit out of place to be honest.

I was a hunter and I needed to move very quickly when one of those Titans came past… I got a lot of sprinting practice!! My oke would own the comrades!!

Same with my warlock, I noticed the guys who played Titan, thought they were playing Call of Duty, so most of the time, I’d evade, double back and blast them with my facemelting powers. It also helped that I found this awesome sniper rifle.

I agree Alpha was great, game is looking awesome!! Gameplay is so smooth and brilliant comparing to slow sluggish Killzone it’s really the first FPS MMO game out there. Would really recommend to anyone who like FPS and even RPG has really cool RPG element to it.

I played the alpha this weekend, i got no lag whatsoever even playing conquests multiplayer no issues. It was crazy smooth, and the fact that it was still an alpha makes it even better.

now i’m not sure how this will translate once the servers are running closer to max but if the alpha was anything to go by, it’s going to be brilliant.

It’s like borderlands and Halo had a baby, and held it up for all the animals on the African savanah to see. It’s very cool. The alpha was limited – Peter Dinklage sucked as a narrator/robot/AI, but I liked what I saw. The gunplay was smooth, and I kicked ass in multiplayer as a warlock.
