Destiny’s latest piece of exotic gear is a god-killer

Nighthawk

It may not be to everybody’s tastes, but I’m genuinely digging Destiny as I approach my twentieth hour while patrolling the Cosmodrome. Sure, it’s not perfect, but there’s a lot to love. Especially when it comes to loot. Now that I’m busy working my light level up and earning both Crucible and Vanguard marks which will be spent on some of that sweetass exotic gear, I’m also keeping my eyes peeled for when I finally get my first taste of exotic loot. And baby, I want this helmet. I just gots to have it!

It’s called the Celestial Nighthawk, and what it does is turn your Hunter in a boss-killing death machine of destruction. It works simple enough, as the Celestial Nighthawk adds the following perk to your Hunter character:

BIG GAME: Golden Gun fires one shot, delivering 6x damage, while granting Keyhole for overpenetration.

Been playing as a Warlock for too long? Then let me break it down for you. Hunters have the ability to summon a Dirty Harry-esque hand cannon into battle, that allows them to quickly fire off a few shots of solar damage that are amplified to deal the mother of all burns. It’s amazing that Kelso from That Seventies Show doesn’t show up every time you use the ability. The gun itself is already overpowered. With the Celestial Nighthawk helm on however, that power is amplified sixfold. Which means that you can pretty much finish a boss off such as Crota, in half a clip of rounds.

It’s also pretty damn difficult to get the helmet, and perhaps a tad bit useless outside of boss raids. But hot damn, the helmet does help reinforce the idea of having loot in Destiny that truly feels special.

  1. “…while granting Keyhole for overpenetration.” Can that sound any more pornographic???

I heard people saying the new expansion actually does a lot to add to the game with more story etc. Actually interested now.

Even though there is no raid is this DLC, POE is still pretty fun

No it doesn’t!! It screwed me over, I can’t level up at all unless I can find two other players to join me! Which pisses me off, because I have been playing on my own for 95% of the time and now it isn’t an option for me any more! I am so angry at this expansion that I didn’t play Destiny even once over the weekend… See even the exclamation marks are back, THAT is how pissed I am!!!!!!!

Lol well, I would trust your opinion as you’re the Destiny expert. That does sound nasty, not sure why they would do that.

They changed the end game to two new parts. But you need two friends to play both. And you can only get the material to upgrade to level 34 from those two new end games. So they screwed me over big time. I was so disgusted when I realised this on Friday. I am now literally stuck on level 31,5 or 32, don’t even know was just very annoyed.
Why they won’t just give match making for the two new modes is beyond me…. Fok hulle

@jonahcash:disqus Wrong. You can get etheric light from nightfalls, but it is an extremely rare drop. You can also get it from the lvl28 POE chest, if you are lucky enough.

Finding 2 people to play with is not hard, and playing the higher difficulties of POE, I can honestly say, you cannot do it if the team are not talking to each other, and knows each others play styles.

For me the problem with the new end-game is that it split our raid team in 2. We cannot do POE or TOO while being in the same party chat, as there is to much happening, and a single mistake can cost you the game. What they have done is break the social aspect of the game completely.

@umarbastra:disqus The story adds something new, if you read the Grimoire card, else, not really doing that much for it. The story is still weak. POE if fun to play, and tbh, after defeating the lvl 35 POE end boss, I was grinning, went to bed and woke up grinning. It was hard to find our strategy, but once we had it, we killed the boss in 40seconds. That is from the start, to the boss dying.

I am replaying the same thing over and over and over for a maybe drop… I don’t know they have really pissed me off. I don’t do social in games well, maybe every now and then. I don’t have any real life friends who game so finding 2 people are a lot harder than what you would think… I played the level 28 POE once with strangers and it worked out pretty well but only got crap from the chest.
Guess I will just come back when they open the Iron Banner again, although I will suck with my level 32 titan at first…

You can solo POE, but it will be hard as hell. You will become on of the elite. I would however say the difference between lvl28 POE and lvl34/35 is massive. Communication is key. But am sure three random people can make it through. I can honestly say that POE does not require the level of communication that a raid does.

I do understand what you mean, but Destiny has always been a social game, meant to be played with friends. The Raids were 6 men only, no match making. POE is suppose to replace the raids. I feel it fails in doing that.

As for TOO, I don’t know how I feel about that, Found it to be crappy, as you are playing against the elite teams, who only play PVP. To make matters worse, we played 3 games in a row against the same team. Really not the best part of the game.

I have played a lot of PvP. I love it, I have all the Iron Banner gear… But I don’t know of another two guys to play it with that are as good or better than me. So I am stuck there, I will probably try to solo the POE but for now I am playing Witcher on my PC but using my TV as the screen so that is at least making me feel better.

Been there, got that, done and dusted.

The Hunter is the weakest character of the 3, and this helmet only means that the golden gun can now kill and enemy for a change.

You should look at the Warlock “THE RAM” and the titans “Eternal Warrior” if you want to see amazing looking helmets. The Hunter helmet just cannot compare.

One makes you look like a Trojan/Spartan/Roman warrior/Titan the other makes you look like the devil himself.

Defeated POE lvl35, and have to say, the Hildian Seeker Ship, that you get is amazing.

You can now buy ascendant energy / shards from the speaker. Making the grind all but useless. I am done with this till I can find people I like to play with again. Played with PS4 “friends” and the guy just wouldn’t shut up, I couldn’t hear a thing. He just went on and on the whole time!! I am over this for now…
