Destiny’s November update has a ton of changes

Destiny sunbreaker

Destiny. It’s a video game where an enemy grunt still has the chutzpah to try and smack you down even after you’ve become legend for killing space-Satan – but it has pretty much run its course for me right now. With Q4 having other games to play, my Guardian has been gathering dust while other players have engaged in regular bounties and Strikes.

And that’s fine! When you’ve spent hundreds of hours inside a game world, fatigue quickly builds up. And that’s something that I can recognise, and which I’ve addressed by taking a break from Destiny for several weeks now. Still, I do plan to return eventually, and it’ll be to a newly-patched version of the game as well.

Destiny’s latest big patch, since the September launch of the Taken King, will address a number of lingering issues that the fans have been vocal about. Changes like a tweaked Crucible Forged quest-line, the option to purchase weapon parts from Banshee-44 and swords from Lord Shaxx. This all ties into the upcoming Iron Banner as well, which is promising better rewards. And more of them. Again. Again.

The Iron Banner this week is also using the Clash match type for the course of the tournament. Sounds fun. Here’s the full list of tweaks from the patch notes then. It makes for some heavy reading:

Nightstalker Hunter

  • Hotfix fixed an issue where extra shots from Quiver was creating infinite Shadowshot; Re-enabled the talent node to provide three shots correctly

  • Fixed an issue where the Warsat completion time was calculating incorrectly when a large number of Guardians were present
  • Fixed an issue where the Tower was featured for Red Bull questlines in the Director for non-eligible players

  • Fixed an issue where players were able to go out of environment during the Fallen S.A.B.E.R strike
  • Raid: King’s Fall – Fixed an issue where the Daughters of Oryx death scream volume was too loud

Quests & Bounties

  • Fixed an issue where joining players during certain phases of the Paradox mission would start an alternate encounter
  • Fixed an issue where a “Taken Trials” quest step could be completed outside the Dreadnaught

  • Fixed an issue that prevented the Mercy Rule from properly disabling players from joining in-progress
  • Warlock Radiance kills will now award +10 points to bring it in line with other Supers. – These points stack on grenade, melee, and precision bonuses
  • Radiance kills in the Crucible now include all kills during Radiance, with both weapons and abilities – This simplifies the “Sheathed in Flame” Warlock-specific Crucible bounty and final step of the “Master of Flame” quest involving Radiance kills
  • Fixed an issue where the Crucible faction rank-up package icon was incorrectly using the Vanguard icon
  • Drop rates for Legendary Items in Normal Crucible have been increased

Quests & Bounties

  • Subclass quests no longer require the player to unlock them one sub-class at a time
  • Quest and bounty steps that previously required wins now only require match completion
  • Fixed an issue where the daily Crucible bounty “Healthy Balance” was not properly completing on match completions
  • The “Featured Matches” weekly Crucible bounty now awards +3 points per win and +1 point for completion. Progress is not lost on losses
  • The daily Crucible bounty “Live Fire Exercise” will now count top 3 finishes in Rumble as wins
  • The daily Crucible bounty “Cover Fire” will now also complete when defeating an enemy player as the Spark Runner

Iron Banner

  • Increased drop rate for Legendary Gear in the Iron Banner playlist
  • Increased Iron Banner reputation gain from games by 20%
  • Added a package at Ranks 3 & Rank 5 that grants additional rewards to the player – Known issue: Some of the items from the Rank 5 package will not be awarded when you open it until you return to orbit
  • Added an Iron Banner Ghost Shell that can also drop in the playlist at Rank 5
  • Gear that buffs Iron Banner Faction reputation gain now have corresponding perk description and icons
  • Fixed an issue where Tempered Buff was not correctly appearing in the Character Screen

  • Adjusted Rumble landing positions on Frontier for better spacing
  • Moved Heavy ammo crates on Asylum
  • Added Asylum to the Skirmish playlist
  • Added invisible physics and kill volumes to prevent players from going out-of-bounds on The Burning Shrine, Frontier, and Vertigo
  • Fixed text in the introduction to Widow’s Court

  • Banshee-44 has remembered where he was keeping his stores of Weapon Parts, and now sells them for Glimmer – Faction Rep turn-ins have accordingly been reduced in value from 75 Rep back down to 50 Rep per 25 Parts
  • Shaxx now sells all three Legendary Swords to players who complete the quest “Blademaster” to obtain one of the Exotic Swords – Legendary Swords now have a Level Requirement of 40
  • Fixed an issue where players could not accept a refurbished Arcadia ship from Amanda Holliday if they already had one in their Vault

  • The Agonarch Rune can no longer be transferred to the Vault or between characters to prevent a circumstance where that action would lock the player’s other characters out of potential rewards – Charged Agonarch Runes can still be vaulted and transferred between character
  • Fixed an issue where the “Wolfsgrin” emblem was not available from the Collection station if the player had a full collection
  • Fixed an issue where the “Laurea Prima” emblem would keep getting awarded to the player upon entering Orbit

The only tweak that I don’t see? A Macarena emote, that’s what.

Something wrong gentlemen? You come here prepared to read the words of a madman, and instead found a lunatic obsessed with comics, Batman and Raul Julia's M Bison performance in the 1994 Street Fighter movie? Fine! Keep your bio! In fact, now might be a good time to pray to it!

We need an article on Lazygamer called: Are we getting too many updates in too short of a period? Seriously Everything is being updated so much that its actually annoying me. Especially the updates that halts you from playing the until you update it. All I been seeing is updates. Updates to games almost every few days and updates on my phone almost every single day. It annoys me. It disrupts certain games when I want to play and it actually drops my ADSL quite a bit when I want to stream or makes my phone struggle cause of constant update downloads. Beyond annoying.

    • Hammersteyn

Luckily it’s not all the games every week. Worst is popping a new game in and seeing a day one update notification. Because of course there is.

      • CypherGate

Yeah that is the worst. I really miss the days when you could install a game or put in a disc, install it and just simply play. Now as you say you guaranteed either a patch or an update. Patches I can understand, but updating a game like twice or three times a month just annoys me. I think updating a game once a month should be the standard or hell once every 2 months instead of every week.

        • Snowlockk

But on the other had, would you want to wait a month or two for a fix that causes huge problems with your game play?

Edit: English is hard for me this morning

          • CypherGate

If they serious fixes that needs to be seen to then sure then update by all means. I just think sending out updates with minor fixes or ten million different rebalances can be annoying and not that serious.

  • Hammersteyn

go out of environment during the Fallen S.A.B.E.R strike? Was that even possible?

    • Nikola

it was awesome little cheat hahaha!

  • Hammersteyn

Agonarch Rune is useless anyway. Spend a week charging the damn thing but the rewards are as limp as Battlefronts Metacritic user scores

Instead of Destiny patch updates – let’s rather have an article dedicated to gaming kittens! I DEMAND SOME KITTEHS!!!

    • Grand Admiral Chief SpaceNinja

Request denied, please submit form K733t to the application department on sub-level 1137

    • Hammersteyn

    • AfricanTime

Kitten Squad , better story than Destiny.

Have they opened it of for single player players to also get higher end gear? No? Then they can go f… themselves. The Taken King was so much fun until I reached light level 296 and now I am stuck. Make open matchmaking for some of the end game content. I get Raids won’t work with randoms but nightfall strikes, even Prison of Elders will work. And why would I do the Iron Banner for level 280 gear? You must be kidding right?

    • Sean Carbutt

A man of few words, but true words. Amen Brother. Feel your pain. I loved Destiny, but the day the TTK was released and I realised that Bunged Gee had given all year one players a big Fawk you, I deleted the game. Not going back. The game has so much potential, but is being driven by Craptavision and the 12 year old COD bitching kids. No thanks.

      • Nikola

But TTK did improve on the game quite a bit I think!

    • Nikola

Honestly dude we all play together Hammer,Sage,Iron myself and few other guys on here but we got sooo bored of Destiny we did not even complete the raid it gotten to a point that everything felt like such a grind!!! I did enjoy it but the raid was missing something I don’t know maybe we all just overplayed it and need a break!

I think you right also in saying they should open nightfall for matchmaking raids absolutely not it would never work!

  • Nikola

TTK was fun but it just got a bit too much for me personally the whole point was getting to that raid and by that time I had enough of the game. Raid never captured me felt boring comparing to the first raid and Crota just was not as much fun. I love Destiny think it’s one of my favorite games and definitely one I put in most hours in besides WoW and willl play the new expansion when it comes but for now I need a LONG break from the game!
