Does Oprah pay her audience to over react like this? (All Oprah guests receive free Xbox 360 and Kinect)

48 second read

I’ve said before that I am quite excited about Kinect, I think it’s going to be a fun family experience and I can see it getting a lot of use over this coming holiday season but if I received one for free I promise you I wouldn’t be acting like the Oprah audience did.

To catch you up quickly, as part of Microsoft’s $500 000 000 Kinect advertising budget they managed to get a place on Oprah to have the Kinect demonstrated to the millions of bored housewives who still watch that show.

And in true Oprah style everyone in the studio audience walked away with a free Xbox 360 and Kinect but that’s not the funny part, the funny or should I save psychotic part is the level of excitement that the audience has for this.

Take a look

I think anything Oprah gives the audience for free will make them go wild like that.

The kinect might have some competion with a spanking new system thats got some open source modules! Check out http://www.kc36.com/press.aspx
It seems really impressive. A free alternative to the kinect that will work not just on an xbox, but over the web, on any PC, with just about any webcam and on both linux and windows systems. Hmmm Xmas might be cool this year.

So wait let me get this straight: Suddenly, gaming is something to jump for because her majesty, goddess of bored housewives seemingly approves of it, but when those kids shot up that school, gaming was the new anti-christ?

Americans are fucking retarded! Assious too, for thinking Kinect is a godsend to gaming.

Omg that has got to be the most stupid thing i’ve ever seen.

At least her show got cancelled. Stupid cow! A proper oxygen thief that one.

    October 20, 2010 at 13:13

Well to be fair she’s a billionaire who has stopped her own show, it’s not like it was cancelled..

I don’t have much of an opinion on the Oprah show either way but she is one of the most giving people on the planet and deserves more than to be called an Oxygen thief.

mmmm? We’re talking about Tyra, not Oprah bud. Tyra’s talk show got cancelled early last year. As for Oprah, she’s going to run her own network next year.

Oprah’s audience screams like a bunch of chimps over the drop of a towel. There’s your missing link Darwin.

One thing is for sure, if Oprah had it on her show, it will sell extremely well. Millions of soccer moms are going to be getting this for their kids just because Oprah said it’s the next “big” thing.

That audience would be excited for anything. I think its a condition of being on the show. They would be excited for her sweaty post work-out undies!

Your eagerness to have your balls licked by me is kind of weird dude…

But I still think Kinect will suck!

Now keep in mind that I’ve only ever watched Opera’s show once, and I don’t particularly care to watch. Just not what I wanna see…

But, and this has been said by TV Guide and many other entertainment sources… Opera is one of the most powerful women in entertainment right now. She has more money then she should, and has chosen to end her show because she’s getting *her own TV network*. Anything that this woman says is good gets huge publicity and love from everyone that is into her show. They could put a single normal #2 pencil under the chairs, and the people there would be thrilled that their pencil came from Opera.

One thing I remember is that once, she gave everyone a car. Yes, a real, actual car. I don’t remember what kind of car it was, though. Anyway, some people were actually MAD at Opera for doing this; for giving them A CAR! Why? Well, they’d have to pay tax on it. So, in that case, sell your old car and get money for the tax. Or sell the car given to you and pay the tax that way. Either way, a free car is a big deal.

lol didn’t see your post there. 🙂

That’s because they have a gift tax in the States and the government can tax you for anything over a specific amount. :O

Oprah is incredibly influential. It’s been hinted that when George W Bush appeared on Oprah back in 2000, and she made him look “intelligent”, it ultimately secured him the presidency (Similarly, with Obama). This is a coup for Microsoft, especially since Oprah has never been pro-games, but then her demographic blames games for all our social ills.

Which makes me wonder how much did they pay her? How much of the half a billion dollar promotion budget went to Oprah?

    October 21, 2010 at 11:14

Careful guys! MS is taking down sites that publish bad stories about Failnect, and there’s an embargo on reviewing that pile of manure’s games. That should red flag that Kinect is going to suck hard!

No a large amount of games have embargo’s on them. It’s nothing special and some sites are just using this to get free publicity.

One of the biggest games of the year is embargoed until release date and by all accounts it looks awesome.
