Download your PS4 games remotely

Here’s something quite cool about the Playstation4 that Sony Worldwide Studios boss, the supercool Shuhei Yoshida revealed on Twitter; you can buy a Ps4 game from your smartphone or tablet, and the PS4 will wake up, download the game, and then go back to sleep.

Right now, you can queue your games to download to your Xbox 360 and PS3 from the web-based stores – but the consoles actually need to be on.

This makes me happy, because nobody likes having to wait to play games…and I’m too lazy to actually go to a retail store to pick up games or have to depend on some courier to get my games to me. though Microsoft’s said nothing about this particular feature, it’s quite likely to make its way to the Xbox One as well; the console runs in a low power state to download updates and listen out for that “Xbox On” voice command, so it wouldn’t be a stretch.

Of course, with the size of next gen games and our delightful local internet connections, we could still end up waiting forever to play games.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
