E3 2015 in pictures – The Bethesda Showcase

Bethesda

At this point, I’m used to the big four press events of E3. But hot damn, this year is something special. In addition to Microsoft, Sony, EA and Ubisoft showing their wares, we’ve also got a PC-specific event and a showcase from software giant Bethesda. Bethesda was going all out tonight. And they came off looking pretty strong. Most of the time.

While Doom had me from the get-go, it was games such as Dishonored 2 and Fallout 4 that had the audience fully enraptured. And fully un-raptured, when some other games were shown. ANYWAY, that’s a story for my other colleagues. Zoe, Al and I managed to get into Bethesda by the skin of our teeth, using our wiles, lack of wit and smelly charm to stand in a line and hope that our maths was right. Here’s what the event looked like, in case you’re interested:

One down, many more to go. Tomorrow, the gauntlet begins. Be brave…

There’s a lot more to the new redesign which isnt working at the moment. We’ve turned it off to keep the user experience going. It’s gonna be rad. We have some cool new toys.

And the rollout of this new design seems super smooth, well done to the team. I remember last design change was not as happy.

It hasn;t been smooth at all. 😀
It’s barely functioning, but were trying to keep stuff ticking over. 🙂 Have a stiff drink for us later .

            Looks nice and clean.
The fact that I can now click on (“new comment above”) in discuss whereas that menu was always in the way, is rather nice.

Well, the punters (us) did not really seem to notice. That is the key.

Swim like a duck, we view your site from the sky and all seems calm. That is the goal I tell my dev team. And my support team.

Good luck. Use the public holiday days well, I should think. Seems more traffic here during SA work hours, judging from comment posting times.

I hope part of the functionality is to disable guest commentators. I do not like that. Must login.

Login is a “semi-barrier to entry” for possible new commentators not sure I would have started commenting if I needed to register first.

Competitions limited to registered accounts is a good idea.

            June 15, 2015 at 09:38

Tired of seeing none of the regulars on the top ten winners of competitions? Apart, of course, from Rants in number 7.

            I login with my gmail.

Can with facebook or other. cannot see why that can still not be used,

I would not register yet another account somewhere, just to post. Must be a damn good reason.

Website has a new look, and content is still great. Pity the photography skills are still shitty. You should hire a professional photographer… especially if you are doing E3 coverage. Just saying.
