I really wish the Internet would come up with a better title than Next-Gen to describe the next generation of console technologies. Not because it’s not accurate but simply because we only stopped calling this generation next-gen about 12 months ago and now we have to start using the catch phrase all over again.
But here we go, according to rumours posted on msxbox-world EA is preparing to launch titles onto the PS3, Xbox 360 and NXG (Next Gen) towards the end of 2012 and into early 2013.
The first title listed for the NXG is Fifa Street followed by Mass Effect 3, FIFA 12 and Battlefield 3 which points to a distinct lack of backwards compatibility.
Unless it’s fully backwards compatible and EA are just trying to make it look like they are putting work into providing content for the next gen of consoles.
Personally I’m expecting to hear about the new consoles between January and E3 with a release in mid 2013. However someone may push to get into the market first by racing against the 2012 holiday season.
