With the recent news of the Wii actually losing to the PS3 in Japan and the PS3 still trailing horribly in the US I thought it was time to take a look at Europe again…
It seems like the region has come alive with the recent 40GB PS3 and the extra features being promised for the 360… So straight to the facts…
Hardware Sales for the first week of December
Wii – 244,133
PS3 – 156,681
360 – 104,965
So yet another region where the 360 is losing, however it always makes it up in software sales…. doesn’t it?
Software Sales
Wii – 1,100,437 (???)
360 – 611,251
PS3 – 604,755
So the 360 scrapes it but what on earth is the Wii doing with all those software sales…

Super Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 also probably still doing the rounds. EA Wii playground. There are some good titles out for the wii and some still to be released shortly.

go into the link and see what they’re actually buying it’s quite scary and very different to the US or Japan.
The PS3 Prostreet is just weird, considering PS3/360 Assassins Creed & CoD4 are neck and neck.
I’m thinking because PGR4 is still pretty fresh.

wow can’t believe the software sales are close. the x360 should have minimum half a million more hardware units in europe – yet the sales are so close. seems like its getting a beating if you ask me!

Do they count the bundled WiiSports and WiiPlay games as sales, as they do in the US? If so, there’s the answer.

Not really, because the figs above say that 244K consoles were sold, but 1 million units of software sold. So even if they did, that brings software sales to 750K, still on top.

Well, if you take away 250,000 for WiiSports and 50,000 for Wii Play, Wii still wins but it’s not quite as much of a thrashing.
The big story here is how the PS2 still outsells every next-gen console except the Wii in Europe.

The simple answer is price.

Just poped into Vgchartz to see if ps3 won this week over xbox360, but alas the japanese numbers are lower again and xbox 360 worldwide just pipped ps3
