Fallout Movie with Tarantino at the helm?

The MTV Multiplayer blog posted up a comment from Bethesda’s Pete Hines that shows that they are most definitely not against the idea of a movie adaptation, as long as the right person is on the job.

In his comment he plays with the idea of having someone like Quentin Tarantino take on the project.

They report on the following comment:

“You know, if we f— this game up, nobody’s gonna want to touch us with a ten foot pole. [Our attitude is] we’re a game company, let’s make the best game we can make and all that other stuff can sort its self out once we’re doing our job. Our job is not to try and make a thing that would make a great movie, we have to make a great game. If somebody says ‘we wanna do this, this is the guy who’s gonna direct it,’ then yeah! [laughs] If Quentin Tarantino wants to do ‘Fallout 3,’ yes, we will hear that proposal! [laughs harder] If Ridley Scott wants to do ‘Fallout 3,’ we will have that lunch!”

– “Fallout 3″ product manager Pete Hines on whether Bethesda Softworks would be open to the idea of a movie based on their new game.

What do you guys think? Does a Fallout movie sound like a plan? Heck, if Tarantino does jump at this it would most definitely peak my interest.

Sorry, Tarantino sucks. Fallout is my favorite game of all time on any platform. I have long imagined myself getting serious and proposing a Fallout movie because I don’t think there are many people who could really do it justice. I have played and beat the first two more times than I can count, and I still play them to this day. I’m afraid some Hollywood big shot like Tarantino or Michael Bay would do it just to jump on the success of the third one, when they most likely know nothing about the originals. And that is where it’s at. I’ve not played the 3rd because I don’t have a system to play it on, but I’m sure it’s better than Tactics or the BOS overhead piece of crap. Please, if you are serious about doing a movie, I will do it for free just to make sure it’s done right. I will write the story and David Fincher can direct.

in my personal opinion, if any body is going to direct a “Fallout” movie, they should get two people, the directed 300 Zack Snyder and Stephen Spielberg. the movie needs to look very dark and it also needs a well thought up story thats why i think these two geniuses would make such an amazing team for the creation of the fallout movie.

I say the Director of Hellboy. Or David Fincher for that also dark and eery feel of the waste.

The only people in the position to make a movie adaptation that wouldn’t suck really badly are Guillermo del Toro or Marc Caro and Jean-Pierre Jeunet. I’d be amazed if anybody else managed to do it well.

I say let Danny Boyle or like someone else said, Guillermo Del Toro direct it… Anything either of those guys touch is golden. Although, when it comes to video game movies they will probably assign some guy who will ruin it.. I have yet to see a really good video game adaptation.

If the game creator’s had complete creative control, like the dude’s that did The Matrix, the movie would turn out great I think. They are obviously great writers.

if u ask me if fallout was to made a movie it should only be touched by a few derictors, FRANCIS LAWRENCE who dericted i am legend is dericting the upcoming hit show KINGS, then theres KEVIN COSTNER yes actor/derictor who has experinces on dericting such movies such as THE POSTMAN and WATERWORLD now average or above movies but its great experince for a fallout movie, and then theres NEIL MARSHALL who did a great jb on DOOMSDAY, in i belive they should make it a current era instead of the alternate future fallout games has adapted but keep to story lines such as the brotherhood of steele, outcast, enclave, gouhls, super mutants and so on, i think casey affleck would be a great actor for the main character young, calm cool colocted style f acting not big not to small and a huge up n coming actor…

Quentin Tarantino wouldnt be a terrible idea, the game has alot of that 1950s pop culture feel that tarantino seems to have a handle on but i dont he couldnt do it alone and, sadly, the director he would most likely team up with is Robert Rodriguez, and while I love the El Mariachi trilogy, his family movies and that festering turd they called “planet terror” have left a permanent brown stain on his face

tarantino would be a great idea because he might make it in reverse order of somthing starting with the death in the prodject purity lab then going back and discovering the main characters is fron vault 101
